I am having a noise from inside the cab of my 98 150 orp from the power steering when driving or sitting still it sounds like the power steering pump is at the end of the steering column when you turn at any angle it is very loud , does anyone have any similar noises ,i already checked the fluid and the belt thanks for any help

 

Ford power steering pumps are just loud.

 

Try changing the PS fluid to a full synthetic.

 

After more than 90,000 miles I am already used to those squeeeshing noises coming from the too close to the firewall steering pump.

And no problems so far.

 

I took mine in to get it looked at cuz it was annoying. They said they couldn't duplicate the problem. So, i got over it

 

Ditto max mitchell.

I changed mine out to Mobil 1 and it's much quieter. I also shaved .834 off the quarter mile. (obviously a joke, but it IS much quieter)
