drop leafsprings or drop shackles and hangers?

Looking to get a front 3 inch and rear 4 inch (3-4) drop kit for my 99' F-150 flareside.

Which of the following two setups is better for street performance and handling:

front 3 inch drop coil springs and rear 4 inch drop shackles and hangers,

or

front 3 inch drop coil springs and rear 4 inch drop leaf springs ?

the leafs would handle better, than the shackle/hanger, but with that also comes the higher price. and the leafs would be ALOT easier to install than the hangers

Crazedf1,

Thanks. I kind of thought that it might be, but was unsure. I had noticed that in the hotchkis kit, they have drop leafsprings, not hangers and shackles.

I notice that autobahn has a 3-4 drop kit with coils, hangers and shackles for $185.00, with 4 drop shocks ($100?) total cost should be around $300 including shipping.

But, it looks like the cheapest drop leafsprings are 240 for a set and another 90 for a set of drop coils. After adding drop shocks and shipping, it looks like the cheapest is going to be around $460, if I'm lucky.

Don't know if the handling increase and the easier installation is worth the extra $160 to $200 ?

Yeah, leaf springs provide better handling and easier installation. But I chose to go with the Belltech 3/4 drop kit (coils, shackles, and hangers). It was $460 shipeed to my door with the Nitro Active shocks (Belltech best ones). I'm happy with it! Oh, I did have a shop install it for another $350!

99flareside,

Thanks. I think I am going to search for the cheapest drop coil and leafspring set up.

But, on a side note, I have noticed pictures of your 99' throught the boards when you post. Is the exterior paint original ? Or did you have a custom paint job. It looks flawless and perfect. And regardless if it is the factory paint or custom, how do you take such great care of it?
