Question for Off-Road Package owners...

I have a 97 F150 4x4 w/ ORP and when I was under my truck to grease the front end I notice that there were 4 threaded fasteners in the frame.

Is there supposed to be a skid plate here to protect the front end and transfer case??

I do have the skid plates under the fuel tank, 17" wheels, and the ORP stickers along with the original window sticker so I do know it came with the ORP.

If the skid plate is missing, can I purchase a new one or would I need to buy all the plates??

I noticed on my dads 00 F150 7700 the holes are in the frame but the clip/fasteners are not in the slots. Any help or hints??

there should be a skidplate on the front with the ORP, especially if there are 4 clips on there...they dont come with the clips but not plate. they aren't overly expensive from ford. Someone on here should be able to tell you price...hope this helps...

skid plate

I have the same year......and there is a black metal skid plate under the front of the truck. It isn't too pretty or visible, but it is there.

But definitely compare aftermarket to Ford price for a new one.

Who has aftermarket skid plates, any ideas. might be able to make one even cheaper still, then you can paint it or form it however you would want.

Ford's front skid plates are cheap...like around $100, but i'm pretty sure they are less. I wanna say like $80. I think it's cooler to have one made, but it probably would be more than $80...i managed to get a friend's stainless steel one after he sold his truck. I'm happy.

I will look into having a friend make one. Should I make it out of stainless??

If not, I think I will buy a ford one.

they have the BIG skid plates in Cabelas theyre ready to paint and run about 120 bucks!
