anyboody replaced front wheel bearings on a 4x4?

My truck has a howling noise like a bearing is going bad in the front end. It gets worse when you turn the wheel, so I believe it is a front wheel bearing.

Anybody had to replace the front wheel bearings on a 4x4? Any tips?

Thanks!

you have to get the hub assy. Ive put a few on at work for bent wheel flanges, never for bearing noise though.

I have had to replace my left wheel hub because it got water in it and began to actually fall apart. You have to get the whole assembly with the ABS sensor, I do not know but I'm pretty sure that you HAVE to get the ABS sensor with it, which adds over $100 to the price tag. You're looking at about $375 for the hub assembly. You have to remove the wheel, caliper, anchor bracket, then brake rotor. Then remove the wheel hub nut from the half shaft and the 3 bolts running through the spindle. You also should either disconnect the ABS sensor or totally remove it from the hub. It will take a little pressure to get off but you should be able to tap it off, you may end up using a puller though. The installing procedure is the opposite just make sure you don't miss anything, I may have in the description. Make sure you torque the hub bolt to 188-254 ft/lbs and replace the cotter pin, you don't want to loose that. If you have any other question post them.
