Changing shocks on 05 F-150

I have been running the autospring level kit for about 4 years now. I've never had any problems with wear and tear. I'm wanting to change the shocks. Should I upgrade to the Rancho quick lift & RS9000XL shocks? Or do I stay with the RS5000 shocks? Are the struts hard to disassemble and assemble? The RS5000 has separate shocks for the front and rear.

I am in the same situation and am considering the same options. Some people are saying the rs9000 quicklift give a little less than 2" of lift. Some are also complaining of a harsh unloading after going over a speed bump. I like the idea of being able to adjust the shocks but I wonder if I would ever spend the time to mess with it. I often carry heavy loads in the bed so being able to stiffen them up would be nice. Looks to be about $150 difference between the two options after rebate.

I'm like you, be nice to adjust, not sure how much I would though. I'm running 325/60/18 Toyo right now, if the Quicklift doesn't raise to where I'm at now, will they clear? Are you running a level kit now? Your truck looks good.

I can pretty much guarantee that if you had the ability to adjust your shocks, you would. I have the R9000XLs on my truck and adjustable shocks are just about the best thing about my lift. I stiffen the ride when towing the boat and can soften the ride on long road trips. I do not use the on board compressor however. Although it would be nice, it's not a big deal to turn the dials manually.

The QuickLift supposedly gives less than 2" of lift, but so do the Bilstein 5100's (had those too). If you have some leveling requirements, you can always use the standard length R9000xl and put your spacer on top of that.

I personally love this shock and highly recommend them.

According to Rancho's site, the R9000 are not made for the front.

Get the Bilstein 5100 series For front and Back! Here is my setup I just did last month - 2'' leveling spacer, Bilstien 5100 adjusted to 1'' setting for max 3'' in the front, 2.5'' Rear Block, New Ball joints and Tie rod ends! The Only hard part about doing all of this really was Compressing the coil enough to get the new struts on!

Hey, did not know that...I checked out their application guide and there's no R9000xl for 0" stock height, 4wd....interesting. I'd place a call to them to be sure, but I guess they only offer the Quicklift strut with 2" setting on up. Good info.
