Add-A-Leaf and Lift Shackles?
|
I'm not doing it any time soon, but when these tires wear out I'm thinking about putting an extra 2" or so of lift and getting 37s. Right now I have a 6" Fabtech lift with dirt logic coil overs and 5" blocks under the stock leafs. My back end is almost 1.5" lower than my front now. What I was thinking about doing is getting 1.5" spacers up front which would put my front end almost 3" higher than my rear. In the back, I was thinking about 1.5" AALs and 2" lift shackles. I've read that 2" lift shackles actually give you 1-1.5" of lift. I'm thinking this plan will put me level with 8" of lift. Can you combine AALs with lift shackles? I haven't seen anybody on here that's done it. Do lift shackles have any negative long term effects on leaf springs, or would they have any negative effects being combined with AALs?

Here is my truck now:
With my Iron Bull front bumper, that picture shows how much room I have now with 35x12.50 mud grapplers with only a couple thousand miles on them. Would I clear 37x13.50 tires without rubbing with 1.5" spacers in the front? Anybody that has 37s: are you closer to rubbing on the front bumper or back edge of the front wheel well like my picture shows? My front bumper has room for 40s, it's just that rear bottom edge of the wheel well that might rub

Thanks. You don't think the shackles would bring the spring pack down and flatten it some then the aal try to pick them back up and they disagree with each other or something like that?

I would stick with the 35's. I have been doing quite a bit of thinking and researching as well. If you are not going to do much offroading then go for it but the 37's play hell on the rack and pinion. It was made pretty much for a civic, very under engineered. I am thinking about sticking with my 6" lift and 35's as pretty much when my truck is being driven it is offroad...
I am very interested in the iron Bull bumper. How much and where did you get it. Do you have any more pictures. I am looking for a solution to getting winch mounted on the front of my truck as well.

I got it from somebody on craig's list brand new for $1200. They sell for $1500 or $1600 normally. Then add a few hundred more if you want any kind of brush guard or grille guard. The winch mount is behind my CAT plate, I just didn't like seeing the empty hole til I can get a winch

Not compared to other bumpers like ranch hands. It's either 180lbs or 190lbs without any kind of brush guard or grille guard and without a winch

Judging by the photographs in this thread just put the add-a-leaf and you will be fine...No shackle...It will take care of some of the axle wrap you are getting from that large block as well...
