spring clamps

I just installed a pro-comp aal . It took a lot of work to get the spring clamps bent out enough to add the leaf. The problem is I cant get them back to normal. These are a pain in the ass. Any suggestions ?

I have the same problem and have been running mine still opened up for several months now. It has not been an issue and I am not sure why they are needed to begin with? But anyway the two ways I have heard about is beat the heck out of them with a sledge or probably the easier way is to heat them up with a torch. I planned on doing the torch but never got around to it.

I thought about the torch. There's plastic on mine. It would melt that and I didn't know if it would make noise with metal on metal back there. I have different sledges and I couldn't get a good enough whack with the space to do anything. If there's no problem with leaving them open I'll just leave like that. As for the aal I would never want to do that again. That was no fun at all to me.

Yeah it is a PITA to get on. And I had the same problem with the sledge. Maybe if it was up on a lift where you could get at it? I have the plastic on mine too. So I assume those that did the torch either took it of or melted it and went without it? You can buy aftermarket spring clamps if you are really concerned and install them but like I said so far I have had no problems. Between the two bolts through the spring pack and the U-bolts on the outside of them I don't see how they could move anyway?
