Question 97-03 Torsion Bars-how do I...

OK...making a HD F150 from my SCREW. The 3 local Ford parts counters, one who works well with me, all want exact part numbers for torsion bars.

What I want is to know, what part number will give me the STRONGEST, LARGEST, HIGHEST SPRING RATE torsion bar. Apparently, they come in different spring rates for pkg A vs pkg B or snowplowing.

Can anyone help?

Any info at all is appreciated.

Exactly. BUT the FORD parts lists shows over 21 different part numbers for 7700 options. We have no way to know which are the strongest.

On top of that, some may not be able to be ordered.

I am after the biggest, baddest, strongest ones that were made.

I'm not sure. Surprised there are that many. I think if you get some for a 03 Supercab 7700 truck with the 5.4, you will have what you want. Also, you may already know, but the bars on the Screws are shorter than the other cab models for a better ride. All you have to do is unbolt the crossmenber on the frame and move it back. I believe the mounting holes are already drilled in the frame.

Thanks for you input. I always know that whatever comes from wandell is good!!!!

Yup, I will have to move the frame crossmember. As far as the right part number, the FORD book doesn't give them by year or rating. If we look up a 03 Scab 7700, we literally get 18 different part numbers. They go by VIN numbers to assign the correct part number.

SOOOOO, how do I determine what VIN has what I want and then - what will that VIN be?
