4" Rancho Lift help

I recently put on a 4" Rancho lift. I now have tire contact with the lower control arm that I didn't have before the lift. It's contacting a tab on the front of the control arm. this is the only contact, and it eats into my tire

I'm currently using the factory wheels with 4.5" BS, and 265/70/17 tires.

Any ideas of why I have this contact? this is the only contact i have, truck has been aligned.

2002 Screw.

Thanks, Brasco

Not 100% sure about those older trucks, but does Rancho recommend you use aftermarket wheels with certain backspacing? Some lifts requir it to push the tires out a little bit.

the thing you got circled is where the knuckle hits the lca, unless it's black from rubbing, hard to tell. all i see is some chewed up metal.

Rancho states you can use any wheel with a 4.5" backspace.

It's not chewed up just polished from the tire....

Almost all aftermarket wheels and the stock wheels for the 97-03 trucks have 4.5 inches of bs. I think if you go to a 10 inch wide wheel it will pull the tire outward slightly and eliminate the rubbing. It looks like it's barely rubbing at full steering lock.

Question

Actually it's digging into the tire pretty good!

The odd thing is that from full lock to full lock I have about 1/2" of gap between tire and where it makes contact.

The contact only happens when at full lock going forward.

Of course Rancho was no help! actually pathetic customer service.

I sent them pics. There contribution was never seen that before! but it's not the lift causing your problem. So we can't help you!

I've rechecked all the Nuts&Bolts for proper torque.....

Please some one figure this out......

Truck only has 40k on it I replaced balljoints when i added the lift last week.

I hope someone can help me.

Brasco

Here are a couple more pics.

This is the gap at static load.

A better look at the contact.

and the tire wear.

Im afraid to cut it off! I don't know how far the tire will roll into the control arm.

I hate to say it, but I've never seen that problem with the Rancho either. I've seen several 97-03 4x4's with the Rancho, most running 35x12.50's on a 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing, and I've never heard anyone complain about this problem.

Looks like a wheel/tire selection error to me.....not familiar with that model year style though. That's also the first I've heard of bad customer service from Rancho.
