Advice? How do I protect rear shock dial from gravel destruction...

OK I have Rancho XL9000s w/ the adjustable dial all around and I noticed the rear valving dials are destroyed from gravel. So I phoned rancho and they were nice enough to send me replacement dials (thanks Rancho! ) but I'm looking for ideas on how to protect these new ones going fwd. Any thoughts?

is it a pain to take the dials off and put them back on? maybe you could remove them and maybe keep them in your truck and whenever you feel like making an adjustment you have the dials on hand.

I don't think thats an option. Have to build some kind of protection, either rubber etc. but mounting on the shock is a PITA.
