Adding 3" front and rear. 33's or 35's??

As the title states.

Also, if I add 35's, do I need to upgrade my rims? What about gears?

Who's running 35's on stockers?

Thanks.

what kind of lift kit are you doing? 3" level kit and add-a-leafs? Do a 2" and add-a-leafs. Trust me, I have the 3"... don't do it. it will mess up your CV axle much sooner than a 2" would. If you have stock 18's, you can do 35s, w/ np. Or aftermarket rims w/ 33s.

Upgrading the rims are personal preference, you wouldn't have to regear, but you would gain some of your performance back if you did.

3" level for the front and a bigger block for the rear.

Should raise it 3" plus look like its still got factory rake, which I like.

CV angles are going to get messed no matter what kit you use, what exactly are you talking about?

Not so much personal prefrence.. Tires shouldn't be more the 8" wider the the rims they are set on, they say.

True wasnt thinking about the width when I posted, but alot of people run 12.50 tires with the stock rims. Also if you are gone to do a lot of offroading that 3" leveling kit is gone to put a lot a stress up front...for what you want I would just put a 2.5" leveling kit, bigger block or add a leaf(if you want that for towing) and put the 35's on stockers, just my opinion though.

Not really into offroad as a sport anymore. So no, it'll just see typical backroads and feilds associated with the acreage living.

Would an half inch to an inch make that much of a diffrence? I don't see why it would be offered if it was a big deal.

More opinions welcome!

Thanks.

dont do a 3" leveling kit. Stick to a 2" Leveling kit.

I recommend using Bilistein 5100 adjustable coilovers. I wouldnt go over 2" on a leveling kit but people run 2.5" without too much excessive wear.

And a few companies have axed their 3" leveling kits after seeing what it does to a suspension. The ball joints and CV's will be at HARD angles, over time these angles will destroy balljoints and if you use 4x4 your CV's will split boots and break faster.

2" is the most you want to go without having drop down crossmembers and lift knuckles. To help keep that factory geometry.

Just my .02

I see some misinformation here... A suspension lift won't mess up your cv and ball joint angles, as Trimble has noted. Leveling kits past 2'' destroy your ride quality, and you'll be tearing cv boots in no time. Don't come back bitching about torn boots two months from now, i've personally been there, done that.

There was some more missinformation embedded in there.....

You CAN run 35's w/ a leveling kit on aftermarket wheels. They just have to be near or identical in backspacing/offset measurements. I've seen so many times where people state that you can't use aftermarket rims for 35's on a leveled truck and it's just plain ignorant.

I had a 2" leveler and aftermarket rims w/ close to oem specs but in 9" wide with 35x12.5's. Required minimal trimming but worked just fine. Look at my current album pics and you'll see that setup and the trimming.

yep, if you can get near specs to the OEM rims, you can definitely do aftermarket and 35s as tlt has stated... Here is why you don't put a 3" level kit on your truck:

And if you want to see more reasons, just look thru my photos

yeah, I put a 2.5", and I think that is too much, but im real ginger with my truck and she never sees the dirt anymore, and I crawl underneath it once a week to check out the susp components up front. You can easily run 35's on aftermarket wheels with a 2.5" level and AAL, mine never rubs. I think it actually looks pretty bad ***.

Yeah, you got a stout looking truck there.

Im going to go swap my 3" for a 2.5 or 2.. Although after a google search, its only this site that has much to say about the 3" being bad.. But i trust the opinions here, and .5" wont make much of a difference in any sense.
