Anyone have homemade rear traction bars?

Ive been looking around for a while but not finding what i am looking for. I dont want to spend as much as most people are asking. Does anyone have some homemade traction bars? If so, any close up pictures of them? Id even take some suggestions of anyone who knows where to get some good ones at a reasonable price. Thanks

Funny you posted this question as I have been contemplating this myself. Here's Dribone's thread regarding his traction bars. His were built using DOM tubing and rod ends from Ballistic Fabrication.

Doesn't look too bad but I'd like to figure out a better mounting point on the frame.

Post back if you get yours done...I won't start this project until I get my lift installed!

Im not to sure if i like the design. im sure they work great but the mount points dont look all to strong and if i made a set i would perfer to have the piping comming off the frame branch into two pipes and have one mount under the axle and another above it.

but if they worked for him awesome.

i probably wont build mine for a while, i wanted to start doing some research first.

I am not sure i like his bars either, i definetly want something a lot "beefier". i also dont understand how a guy could get any flexion at all with them like that. i think fabtech makes a set that look really nice, but i dont want to fork out the cash if i can build my own.

anyone else have some good close up pictures of thier traction bars? I need help!!

I'm probably going to have to build one for my explorer (SOA'd, deleted overload spring, Ford 9" w/ 5.14 gears).

Here's a couple good threads on pbb

Agreed, those are what I have in mind when I think traction bars for a 4x4. Again, those parts are available on the ballistic fab site.
In anycase, I know ProComp makes a nice set and there is a post regarding Rize's bars, but it would be so much cooler to make my own. Add some powder coating...I need to do this project!!
