Hey all, im new to the fourms. I have a FX4 2002 F150-4 Door Ext Cab, 17" Stock rims on 265/70R17's. Gonna get dual exhaust and maybe 33-12.50's or 35's, not sure yet and possibly a K&N. But im looking for a small suspension lift, 3-4 inches. Anyone know where i can find one to fit my truck?? i dont want to spend $1000 for a 6 inch lift but thats all i can find for my year model.

 

I know Tuff Country makes a 4.5" suspension lift for the 97-03 4x4s. Also, I think Skyjacker makes a 3" suspension lift also for that truck but I can't be sure. If they do, I wouldn't really recommend Skyjacker though. They aren't as good of quality IMO as the Fabtech 6" or even the Tuff Country 4.5"... Either way, you are looking at spending more than $1K easy if you want a suspension lift.

Alternatively, you could always do a 3" body Lift for a lot cheaper and still be able to put 35's on. Then eventually, you could add a suspension lift. The Body Lift will be much cheaper but really isn't worth it if you don't plan on installing it yourself. Labor alone will run you $600-$900. Plus your 3" kit is going to be just under $200, so you're pushing $1K again...

 

hi, you can purchase a used 6'' fabtech suspension lift for around $700, that's what i did. as long as the steering knuckles, crossmembers, and drop down brackets are in good shape, you're ok. shocks and stripped bolts are cheap enough to replace to make such a deal worthwhile, if you can find one.

one guy on here reported paying around $700 out the door for a body lift installed on his 97-03. after personally installing a body lift myself, its not that bad, but you're going to fight at least one or two of the stock body bolts every turn out. still, i cannot rationalize paying someone triple in labor what the body lift kit costs.

 

cost $687.50 in labor .. i got the 3inch body lift off ebay for $130 (included brackets) $820 in all. check out my pictures to see what it looks like.. i need new tires though.

 

no way in gods green earth ill ever pay someone that much to do a body lift.

Ive done 1 on a ranger and 1 on my F150 they arent hard, however they are time consuming.

Even if i didnt have the Time, space, or tools id still not pay someone to do it.

$800 is rediculous for a body lift.

But wheres the pictures? I wanna see.

 

Rancho makes a good 4" suspension lift. I've been running mine since mid 2005.

The guy quoted me $300 in labor.. but like you said it was more time consuming than he thought. It took him 13 hours to do. At 50 an hour it adds up quick.. me and my brother and law was going to do it .. just didnt have the time to do it... but you are right i would have never bought the lift if I knew I was going to have to pay that much for the install.
I can fit 35s now though.. just have to save a little money to get them

 

There are generally limits to what someone can charge beyond their price quote; they must get authorization first.

 

Yeah it will be tough to get the supension lift for under 1k - Your best bet it a body lift and have a buddy help you put it on. The install on your year model isn't that bad. Alot of guys on here have done it. The newer body styles like mine are a real PITA to do.

 

It wasnt a quote really.. he told me how much it was on previous trucks but he had never done a f150 like mine and it would just depend how much time he spent in it.
