its pretty easy to replace the joints. There is a pretty good walk thru on here that someone posted that I followed. It even has pictures!

basically, you take the wheel off, mark where the upper control arm bolts are at on the bracket, loosen the bolts and break the ball joint there. the whole upper control arm is replaced with the new ball joint. Good times.

The lower ball joint, its a pain in the butt. You will need to break the ball joint loose using a pully or a hammer. you then need to remove the axle shaft from the knuckle. Then you need to use the ball joint remover from Auto Zone or wherever you rent tools from, and remove the ballloint. Then reverse alll the changes you did and its all good.

easy to do, but can take a few hours. Good Luck !

ball joints

Im a Master tech and replace ball joints in ford trucks all the time. I have only replaced 2 uppers in 97-03 f-150s. never usually bad. I would make sure they are loose before replacing.
