steering shaft/column

I know once you install a body lift you have to use a steering linkage spacer.

I had to install a new heater core and ever sence then i cant get my
steering column to bolt back in place.

could the steering shaft lock in place and not let me install my steering
column ?

i forced it to go into place but then i cant steer. It will get real
stiff and make it hard to turn the steering wheel.

So is my linkage from column to steering box messed up ?
i tryed to move my steering shaft by hand and i cant push it in or out when
its not connected...

I have been driving with the steering column only bolted up with 2 bolts
for a long time and im tired of the column moving ...

98 f150 4x4 3"body 5.4swaped

thanks for the help
