Front end grinding noise

I have a 2004 F-150 4x4 screw...This just started and while driving down the road I hear a "metal to metal" noise around the front end I think..Itll only last for a few seconds then it quits..I thought maybe a hub or something..Anybody had this happen before?? Please comment back

Get your IWE solenoid replaced.. I've had that same noise, I checked by clickin the truck in 4x4 when its making the noise.. Soon as I would do this it stopped.. Your truck is stuck in between 2 and 4 wheel drive and yes its metal scraping against the hub assem.. I'd get it looked at before you do some damage.. It could be a vacuum leak somewhere also or water in the lines but I'd say its the IWE.. good luck,

My truck made the same grinding noise while i would drive, then when i would slow down it would make a pop and be back to normal. Took it to the dealership and they replaced the hub.

This is driving me nuts!

First they thought it was the Acuators ("Replaced"). Two days later, right back to the dealership.

Then they "Replaced" the front bearings. Didn't even make it all the way home. Right back to the dealership!

Then they "Replaced" the solenoid. Made it 5 miles down the road!! WTF?

It's a "07" for christ sake. 13,500 miles

I'm so fu)king mad I could kill someone!!

You do realize this post is over 3 years old? Talk about a bump from the dead. And his truck was on 04 no torsion keys, and ranger's didn't have them pre 98 as far as I know.
