Suspension or Body?

Suspension or Body?
Question...I have an 01 Screw 4x4 that I would like to lift. Ive been looking at some 6" suspension lifts. What I am wondering about is, is there any reason why I shouldnt do a suspension lift? The truck has 93K on it and is in great shape all around but I have heard some negitave things about putting suspension lifts on higher mileage trucks. Should I just go with a 3" Body Lift?

there are no negative things to putting a suspension lift on a higher mileage truck. you may have a hard time getting the torsion bars off, or may have to replace some of the other suspension components while you have everything taken apart.
i went with the 3'' body to save some cash, but now regret not getting the 6'' fabtech. i am not interested in combining the two either, as gas is getting too expensive to run 37's on a daily driver that is also a pavement queen. 35's would also look a little odd on 9'' of lift, imo.
basically, what i am saying is that if you don't plan on combining the two later, I'd go with the 6'' Fabtech over the 3'' PA. I'm now regretting that i didn't... Everyone else on this site will echo this, if you are even thinking of going bigger, you will regret it later if you don't.

X2 exactly what mini monster said. I put on a 3 inch body first and now I want to put on a 6" suspension, but I don't want 37's cuz of the gas. 35's might look ok though. Get the 6" suspension

And you can easily fix this too, just by changing the way it is mounted...
If a body lift is installed correctly chances are no one will even no its there, besides the extra clearance for 35's

as already mentioned, all the cosmetic issues surrounding a body lift are addressed via proper installation. gap guards for the wheel wells and nerf bars to cover the frame rail. the only place the spacer blocks are really visible is the rear wheel well, and the front two bushings. if you fool w/ bracketry enough, you could hide the hitch up as well. for those thinking of skimping the front gap guards, do keep in mind that if you do offroad, they will prevent sh^t from accumulating in the engine bay. personally, i opted not to put on front gap guards b/c i wanted the world to see my longtube Dynatechs
also, for those contemplating going bigger than a 35'' tire, the 6'' suspension and 3'' body is the only method to achieve enough clearance to do so, while providing the strength the truck needs to be able to handle off-road use. (97-03)
