Well, at the risk of sounding like a complet tool...isn't it a little late to be asking that question?? Most people ask before they go buy something. But since we're here...the RS5000 is a very good 'generic' shock for lack of a better term. It lacks the valving and other advances in shock technology found in many good shocks today. It's gonna be a little stiff and ride about the same on all surfaces since it's neither a mono-tube nor a gas pressurized shock. It is a good shock for the money though...better than some of the Pro Comp (ES3000, 9000) shocks I've tried. They're not on my top 10 list though.

i went with monroe. replaced them over spring break. they ride REALLY good, especially when i have something heavy in the bed. up front, i can hardly tell when i hit a speedbump or pothole anymore, but with an empty bed, it is really stiff....

I've got the Rancho shocks on my 5.0. No complaints. Nothing to brag about either. But you can't go wrong for the price.

But why didn't you ask about shocks before you bought them? Now it's a bit too late to get a second opinion. I guess you can always return them, even without trying them, if you hear enough negative feedback.

well i have heard nothing but good about them from other people. i just wanted to know what the people on the site thought. i installed them today. wasnt too hard. kinda difficult to get the top bolts on the rear out though. they ride really good. and they look pretty cool tool. the white shock goes nicely with my white paint

I also used to have Rancho shocks on my ride. But recently I decided to switch to Monroe's, bought them from Autopartswarehouse. And I should say the Monroe's ride better than the Ranchos. Well, you could always and upgrade in the future but for now try and enjoy the feel of those new shocks in your ride.

May I ask, which Monroe's did you use to replace the Rancho's?

Cool Put RS5000 on my 2001

I had put the RS 5000s on my 01 4x4. Ride was OK. They do look nice however.
One thing to be careful of. The boots that come with the shocks have drain holes at the bottom. Do not cover them up with the shock body. Water can collect and damage the upper shock rod. This happened to mine and in one year needed to replace one of the rears. It was leaking pretty bad.

Good luck with yours.

BY the way, I replaced the OEM shocks at about 110K. Had them tested at Ford. Both were still functioning within limits, even with one leaking slightly.

I use the 'Sensatrac,' it rides perfectly and it suits my driving style.
