Exclamation gearing question regarding leveling my truck

My question is, If I put a 2.5" leveling kit up front, a 3" block in the rear, and throw 35's on my OEM wheels, WILL I HAVE TO CHANGE THE GEARING ON MY TRUCK?

Also, has anyone done this set-up and loved/hated it?

All comments are appreciated and pictures are awesome as well.

No, you won't have to. How much performance you lose will depend on your gear ratio.

I lost some performance and towing power going to 35" tires. Bought an Edge Evo and it help's but not what I call a permanant fix. Best to run 4.56 gear's with a programmer.

you dont have to change the gearing, but you will need a programmer to adjust for the tire size so you get the best mpg and so the speedometer is correct and you are not adding unwanted miles on your car.

Actually, if you don't correct the speedometer/odometer, your truck will be registering less miles than you have actually traveled.

Had that set up and loved it. Then I realized I had the dreaded "wanna go higher" disease so I got a 6" Fabtech and cranked it two inches to 8" and put 37's on. Now I want a 3" body lift. Just warning you.....

isnt 4.56 kind of low for only running 35's and a leveling kit. i know it will help mpg in town but how bad would it hurt mpg on the highway?

Many people just do CAI, Exhaust, and programmer with 35's. I would suggest doing those mods first. You might be happy with the performance afterwards. I did all three, had 3.73's in the rear with 35's and hated the performance.

I got 4.88's and love it!!!!!

btw, truck performance issues are more a result of larger tires and wheels rather than increase in ride height. your drivetrain gets strained as it was not configured for the weight and roll resistance of 35's. When you add the weight to the truck, its stresses the drivetrain (tranny and engine) resulting in poor performance, premature failure of components, and horrible gas mileage. The engine cant get enough revolutions to get it going. The lift does affect mpg's through aerodynamics, but not is not the cause for needing regearing; its the larger tires.
