What is the max tire size for a stock 1999 F150

I am new to this site and the whole forum situation... I was wondering what the max size of a tire I would be able to fit on without any rubbing, I own a 1999 F150 xlt supercab 4x4 stock... There are torsion bars in my front end so i am not sure if that makes a difference. So if anyone can give me some advice that would be great.... I have thought about putting torsion keys so not to put extra stress on the bars... any advice would be great because I am new to this

If you are gonna keep the oem wheels I'd go with a 285/75-16 or 285/70-17. Both are basically 33x11.50 tires.

none needed! just tighten the factory ones. its free follow the torsion bar back untill you reach the key and you will see a bolt. lift the front of the truck with the suspension hanging and tighten those bolts.

I had a 2000 with 285/75/16's up until two days ago when I picked up the 2008. That size works fine with no modifications. The torsion bar twist?
Up to you. Crank away if you want. Pros and cons. Read the different posts on this site.

ok. the aftermarket keys you are talking about put extra tension on the bars the exact same way as turning those bolts does. its just the holes where the bar fits in the key is re-indexed.

the bolt i am talking about is number 8. tightening this bolt rotates the torsion bar key and lifts the truck

Puts extra stess on the torsion bar, usually needs an alignment, rides a bit harsher. Other than that, it levels out the front end quite nicely.

it depends how you drive the truck. unless you really beat on your truck it will be fine other then a little stiffer ride which alot of ppl actually like. i had them cranked on my ranger for 3 years and never had any problems and i by no means babied that truck lol.

its very easy. no special tools. just make sure the front suspension is hanging while cranking and that you get the same ride hight on both sides. then u need an alighnment.
