Do I need a lift to clear 285/70/17?
I was reading through a lot of the posts, and see where the level kits are used to clear up to 35's. But, do you need any lift to clear 285/70/17's on a 2007 Super Cab 4x4? I see a lot of these "level" kits actually sit the front higher than the rear, which to me looks worse than the dragster look. This truck is only used for mild off road driving, mostly just need extra clearance.
Thanks,
Zach

Zach,
Shop it around. Go to a couple of off road shops and ask questions. I got the Pro Comp Coil Spring Spacer. It is a 2 piece urethane kit that requires a lot more work and mechanical knowledge. I had the shop install mine. Since the truck was already up on the rack, I also had the shop put in a Pro Comp Add-A-Leaf. Take a look at what these parts look like. Find out what the differences are. Ask about the pros & cons of the different products on the market. It is obvious that they all have different designs and are constructed from different materials. Don't let a few dollars saved dictate what you install. Saving $20 today could result in hundreds later for repairs. Make sure that you are comfortable with what you are buying before spending your money. Is a leveling kit what you really want? If you do a suspension lift later, you'll have wasted whatever you spent on leveling. You should also consider some of the adjustable shocks that are out there on the market that could give you a couple of extra inches, be compatible with future lift kits, and improve the quality of your ride.

If this was my personal truck I would definately do a full suspension lift. I have a Whiplash on my personal truck (Dodge, sorry). However, this is a company truck and I will only have it for 70,000 miles which is about 10 months. So I'm not looking to invest any more money in it than I have to. I work for a construction company that does wind turbines, and I just need a little extra clearance. On my last truck 285's did the trick. So, if I don't have to lift it, I don't want to. Thanks for all the replies!
