2x4 to 4x4 swap 97-03

I have a 98 F150 4x4 std cab

I blew the tranny in it

If i got a 99-03 4door f150 could i swap my 4wheel drive into it...

i understand i would mostlikely need a new tranny still
and maybe a new crossmeber for the T-bars and maybe longer T-bars ??

well thanks

Save yourself the headache and just buy a 4x4.

It would be way too much work to justify the swap. And unless you have full, free access to a machine/fab shop, it would be much cheaper to buy a new 4x4.

The cost difference in a 4x2 SCREW and a 4x4 SCREW is usually about $1500 and you will spend a lot more converting a 2wd.

What exactly are you tring to do?

Are both trucks 4x4? If so and both are the same wheel base 139" ( assuming Super cab 6.5' box vs. reg cab 8' box) you would not have an issue with the torsion bars or any front end stuff except spring rates.
If the 99-03 is a 4x2. Don't bother. Way too many differences on the frame to contend with.

Good choice bud Saving yourself a TON of money and endless amounts of headaches! Maybe look into buying a cheap little Samurai or Jeep. Buy old and cheap, then you can modify at your own pace, make it what you like, and it wont be the Daily Driver, but rather a side project. Cheaper and easier in the long run.
