I have an 06 extcab fx4 and i was wondering if anyone has put a plow on their f150 and if they did what did they have to do?

 

Just my opinion, but a 1/2 ton isnt the best set up for a plow. The beat down your truck takes is unreal, you will never make enough to pay for the plow and maintain your truck. Buy a beater if you wanna push snow. Western makes decent lightweight plows, if you are dead set on the idea. Disengage you airbags too, or else the first parking block you find might hurt a little.

I have never seen them on a 1/2 ton. Always F250, F350, Chevy 2500 or Dodge 2500 and up. And also on older model trucks that are used ONLY for that specific purpose. You need alot of weight behind the push, plenty of torque and heavy duty steel frame(I would think):o .I think unless you are using your truck as a beater(as previously mentioned), then give it a try, but not a daily driver. I have seen airbags offered to strengthen the front end

I have a 7,6 steel Boss plow on my 05 screw.Works great.

 

I also put a 2.5 AS level kit on the front ot help out.Never tried it out

 

Curious if you are out to make money on it. Out all night when the big snow hits? Or just for personal use.. Heck i have seen s-10s with plows on em. Makes me laugh every time i see it, cause usually they are the ones driving around when there is barely any snow at all. Poor wittle truck.. They make plows for every jeep and truck out there regardless of size, but please dont go out there and beat the crap out of your truck because they make a plow for it. If you want to use it for your home or farm buy a used polaris 500 with a blade, save your truck for the drifts. Besides Pushing snow is fun for about a half an hour then it just plain sucks. just my opinion

 

Yeah I use it commercially.I plow snow for my in laws that have there own lawn care and snow plowing buisiness.They only use 1/2ton Z71's so I like to show them up with my Ford.Yeah plowing snow is not the best on it but neither is an 8in lift and 37's with 20's like a lot of people run on here..Just my 2cents

That would be a great product for personal use, 110 pounds. I wouldnt contract the Wal Mart parking lot but it would be great for the neighborhood. Never seen one that simple before. How much did that set you back?

 

I think it was $1200 back in 2002.I have a 550ft paved driveway.

 

I know its a little off the subject but I remember reading in my owners manual(01 F150 supercrew 4X4) That Its not recammended to put a plow on a supercrew, but im pretty sure that it said it was ok for a regular or extended cab...I dont know why the supercrew would be different???

 

550ft! thats farther than I drive to work. You should get a ton of PEX tubing and heat that bad dog. Never have to push snow again.

 

My guess would be the 97-03 f150's had shorter torsion bars compared to the regular and extended cab versions.Prolly didn't think they could take the stress.

 

150 is good for your driveway and thats about it. gotta go with with 250-350 if you want to make some cash and they can take that kind of abuse. i had a dakota with a 6 foot blade and it was great for my driveway and my neighbors. it is funny seeing those rangers and s10 with thier plows on when its a dusting.
