Rancho 4" $$$ vs Procomp 6" $ Lift

I am considering a 4" Rancho, but the cost is about $550 more than the 6" Procomp lift when installed at 4 Wheel Parts. Is the Rancho that much better or is the basic 6" Procomp just not a good choice for a lift?

My initial thought was to go to a 4" lift and 12.5 x 33 tires, as I need the truck to have plenty of low end power when pulling my boat in the summer. I am trying to avoid a 35" tire and needing to change the gear ratios.

I think the 6" lift will not look right with the 33s, even if I go with a wider tire and I really do not want to spend the cash on new gears. The truck has 3:73s and the tow package from the factory.

Any thoughts on the big difference in price for the 4" Rancho vs 6" Procomp would be appreciated.

Have you tried to get an estimate anywhere else? 4wheelparts was really high when I called them. I live in Los Angeles, so they might have different pricing here. I had to go out of Los Angeles to get a decent estimate. I drove 45 min to Orange County and saved about $800.00. Plus, I got 1 year unlimited warranty on labor. 4wheelparts wanted me to pay $300 for a warranty on labor. I wouldn't get a 6" lift if your going to get 33" tires. I have a 4" Superlift and my 33's look a little small. IMO. Your options for a 4" lift are RCD, Rancho, and Superlift. Everyone here has their own opinions on each of the lifts. I'd do research and decide for yourself. There are plenty of threads for each lift that you can search. I mainly went with Superlift because it does not increase front track width. I personally don't like when the front tires stick out further than the rear

05BlackF150,

I am trying for the same look as your truck, except I want the Helo Maxx 6 wheels in Black. I was also thinking of the Toyo ATs, instead of the MTs. My new truck is a dark Gray FX4, so I think the black wheels will look good. I do not have any chrome on the truck because it has the FX4 luxury package. (Painted handles, bumpers and grille, grey front lights, etc.).

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for the lift and wheels? I am north of Houston, so there is no chance for me to make it out to Orange County with my truck. However, I would like to compare it to what I already have heard from the stores in my area.

How loud are the Toyo MTs? I will not be doing a lot of off-roading, but I do need to pull my boat in and out of the water on a regular basis.

I am also thinking about adding the SuperSpring Add-a-Leaf, which sits on top of the rear leaf springs and only come into play when you add weight to the truck. This should help keep the truck level when towing.

Thanks,

KR-Texas (FX4-Texas)

I paid $2200.00 total, for the 4.5" F.I.T. Lift w/Bilstein 5100's(rear) and installation. The Toyo Muds are not loud at all. That's one of the main reasons why I chose them(plus they look badass). I paid around $2500.00 for the wheels and tires. The toyos were backordered and in high demand when I bought them, so I ended up having to pay a little extra. You should be able to get them for less if they are not backordered. My lift came with an add-a-leaf instead of a block, so that may help with the sag. Not sure. Presently, I am trying to price some Bilsteins for the front struts. The 4.5" RCD Lift comes with 4-6" lift Bilsteins for the front struts. I am contemplating removing my coil over spacers and replacing my front struts with the 4-6" Bilsteins. So far the only price I found is $310.00. That might be something to look into if you don't like the spacers. I haven't decided if it's worth doing this yet. My truck is great as is. I don't need the front Bilsteins, but I want them. Hope this helps.

I have heard alot of bad things from pro comp, such as what bud8817 said, and the quality of the lift, such as fabtech and rcd are much higher than pro comp.

I don't know if other lift kits come with painted spindles, but mine did not. So, just make sure your spindles are painted before install. Not knowing this, I didn't have mine painted prior to installation and they started to rust after a week. Not a problem if you have factory spindles because they are short and out of view. The longer spindles are visible and do not look good if they are rusted. I ended up painting mine while on the truck. I had to mask everything. What a PITA.

I was also considering the rancho 4" lift. I was going to run it with my body lift and get some 20's and 37's. Now im not to sure on which lift to get. Do the front tires really stick out that bad that it is so noticable? Also with these lifts could i run a 20x9, or a 20x10 with a negative offset such as -12 with 4.5" backspacing? Thanks
