I am doign mine saturday and I plan on using this write up. Nice write up by the way! My only question/ concern is the pittman puller part. Is the ball joint the round piece that needs to be pushed down and out of the socket on the upper control arm? Does it look the same as the dodge one in the picture?

the ball joint is in that round rubber piece at the top of the control arm. you are not removing this though. you are basically pushing the bolt that is attached to the ball joint, up through the hole in the top of the spindle. if you attach the puller exactly as pictured, and crank on the threded rod with the ratchet, it pushes the ball joint bolt through the hole. just remember to keep that nut on there to stop the arm from flying up and the spindle from dropping all at once...there is a lot of force there.

I love them tires! I need to get me some mud terrains one of these days. I think I understand now. In the blurry picture I think I see why you loosen that bolt uner the ball joint. Its so the control arm can get low enough to be able to get the strut out and fit the spacer on top of it. I am right about this?

Great Instruction

Just installed 2" Autospring this weekend following these instructions. Took my time. Didnt use any air tools since I didnt start working on it until after 10PM. Still only took about 3 hours to complete by myself. Just used a 24" breaker bar on the lower strut bolt. I have never had a project run so smoothly.

Stupid Question Alert:

Would it be possible to just compress the spring with a spring compressor.

Pry the strut up a little and pull the strut out without loosening the rest of the hardware?

TTT for a great write up.

Used it to install my 2.5" AS kit tonight.

Pitman Arm Puller isnt needed though. I picked one up through Advanced Auto's loan a tool program and the thing was broken as soon as I took it out of the case. We resorted to the hammer and jack underneath method and it came loose after just a few licks.

Couldn't be happier. 35" Mickey Thompson or Toyos to come this week as well as a front end alignment tomorrow.
