ok, i know im becoming confusing to others... i tend to do that

today after family left (HAPPY EASTER) i decided to try this whole thing over again... So one hour and fifteen minutes later.. it was complete!
this really was one of the easiest things i've ever done... thank you for this wonderful write- up, i used the hell bent steel 2.5" level kit, because it was basically the same as the powder coated autospring level kit (without the hefty price of $80.lol)

a little tip to people who are planning on doing this in the future... it is much easier, and the process will be greatly sped up if you pick up a 1/2" breaker bar from auto zone when renting the pitman puller and torque wrench (i also rented the breaker bar). the breaker bar will make the 30mm bolt release extremely easily.
anyways, good luck to all! and thanks again!

^^ looks awesome! i'm glad it worked out in the end. did you do any lift in the rear, or just the spacers up front?

a breaker bar is definitely a nice tool to have in your box. i mean to get one myself for my collection, but i always just use the handle from my hi-lift jack. an actual breaker bar is smaller and can fit in more places, so it would be wise for me to pick one up.

So I finally got around to putting my AS leveling kit on today, and this was happening to me as well. I know it will be ok once I put the tire back on the ground. My main concern is will this cause problems in the future, and did it do this when everyone else put theres on?

it is just the spacers up front... and the back is about 3/4 of an inch higher than the front.

its my new favorite tool!!

I just typed out a big answer to the control arm / coil over contact question.... and deleted it. I am no expert, & I'm probably wrong.

That said... I think it's fine. I even jacked up the front end to see how much travel there was before contact.... A lot. We're talking bouldering & if your bouldering then a leveling kit is the wrong lift for you.

That's my 2 cents.

I have contact also when installing the spacer, is this normal?
I dont understand whats going on here, this cant be right, even with the jack under it i cant get the ball joint to fit correctly with out any contact. I have the 2.5 as , i was under the impression that the 2.5 is fine, but when use the 3 inch one you will have some contact issues at full droop. Help! thanks

thanks

Older topic I know. But still a lot are using it.

I edited the topic and 'hot tips' all together in a word file for my use and for ease of printing. If anyone would like it just drop me a PM with your email addy and I'll send it out ASAP.

Thanks to all who have contributed thus far! I'll be installing mine tomorrow.

I recently installed the Rough Country 2.5" kit on a 2wd ext. cab F150. It is a very nice kit for $240 which includes the front spacers, rear blocks, and rear shocks. They offer the same kit for 4wd models.

I am installing another AutoSpring 2.5" spacer on a 4wd crew cab tomorrow. I'll post pics when that is done.

installed a 2.5" autospring on a 2007 Lariat 4x4 today. i think it could've done a 2" or could add a 1" block to the rear because the front is a bit higher. i suppose it could settle back down a little after a couple miles.
it gets new rubber in a couple hours.

I did mine last night and changed the brake pads in an hour and a half. What an easy job! Couldn't believe how smoothly it went. The only thing I HADN'T read in this thread is that you bolt the spacer on the strut, and then just turn it 90degrees and stick it back in place. Nothing was hard to come off, and the 6.99 pitman arm puller from Harbor Freight worked AWESOME on the ball joint. No more 3lb hammer for me!

I used the 1.5" kit hoping to have some rake, that was just after I backed it out of the spot and it was dead level. It should have settled on the way home, and may settle more after the alignment tomorrow. Tires go on then too!
