Lifted 2 wheel drive?

I have recently purchased a '05 single cab STX and would love to put a lift on it. But everytime i talk to someone about it they say that its stupid to lift a 2 wheel drive truck. So my question is would it be stupid to lift a 2 wheel drive truck.

You need to stop talking to stupid people. Seriously, lifted 4x2's are the hottest trend in trucks today. Why else would every major suspension manufacturer make lifts for 4x2's? It's not because a couple of people in California want them. Currently, Pro Comp and Fabtech advertise 6 inch lifts for 04-05 F-150 4x2's. Skyjacker, Revtek, Daystar, Auto Spring and others make 2.5 inch lift (leveling) kits for 4x2's. However, since the suspensions are the same on the 4x2 and 4x4 trucks, I suspect that all the 4x4 kits would work with 4x2's. I know this is the case with 02-05 Chevy 2500HD trucks.

I am putting a 3 in lift on my 2001 F-150 2x4. I LOVE the look of these trucks lifted. and insurance is too much for me (17 year old male) to drive a V8 4x4, so thats why I got the 2wd. I usually just play around in the mud wiht my friends, and they like pulling me out. Also, screw what other people think, if you wanna lift it, lift it! Who cares what other people think.

Hey thanks for both or your oppinions. Its not that i was going to let these people put a bad influence on what i wanted to do, but they made it sound very in-practicle (sp?). And look out for some pics around christmas of my new lift kit. thanks again for your help. Just one more question though do you know of any companies that make bigger than 6" lift kits. I know you can add the body lift on, but is there any 10" to 12" kits? Thanks in advanced

I plan on doing the same with my 99. Everyone here thinks its stupid to lift a 2wd and thing Im a moron for even thinking about it-but honestly I dont care. For me, its VERY practical. The extra ground clearance will be a very big benifit for me-also-I really dont need 4wd. Heck, my 2wd sees more off road use than a lot of peoples 4wd's around here who think thet "gotta have a 4x4" Plus-ther is a LOT less to go wrong by lifting a 2wd compared to a 4wd-since you dont have to worry about all the cv joints etc. And with a locker in the rear end-you can get around just as good an a 4wd sometimes.

The best part is when your all out screwing around off roading-and you out do them while they are in 4wd becasue they dont know how to drive. The look on their faces

I havent seen any 10 or 12 inch lifts-but I know a company called Full Throttle, or something along that line, specializes in just big lifts, like 14 inches and such.

I lifted my old 2WD 1998 Regular cab F150 flareside. It looked sweet as hell and it was cheap too. All it was was 2 longer springs for the front and blocks in the rear. I didn't keep it long enough to put bigger tires on it though. You can see pictures of it in my gallary below.

Hey.... An excuse to post a pic of my truck!

Lifted 2wd's look just as awsome as lifted 4w4's. Because they look exactly the same, except without the fx4 or 4x4 logo.
