I installed a Performance Accessories 3" body lift on my 97' F-150 4x4 ORP this past weekend with the help of 2 friends. It took about 10 hours and 3 cases of beer. It was worth every bit of it. I recommend it to all.
Time to but tires and wheels now. I will post pics when I'm finished.

You will get more information here under products reviews, and almost every dealer sell those, so you will find different pricing. Mine was $123 and free shipping a month ago in JC Whitney.

I'm thinking about doing my body lift this weekend or next. Did anyone run into any big problems? What took the longest time to install? A few friends are coming over to help, guess we need lots of beer......

I just got done with my truck. This weekend, my brother and I and I install a Performance accessories 3" body lift on my 99 4x4. It went surprisingly smooth. One thing that happened that was wrong with the kit, was the fuel tank vent hose that was sent along with the kit was the wrond size for my truck. The hose that came with the kit was way to big (wide). It wasn't a major problem, just ran down the auto store and bought a replacement for about $3. Other than that It went really well. One recomendation, When it says to "possibly remove radiator" There is no need to do this. If you have patience, or in my case a "hot knife" All you have to do is cut off the lower clips. saved me a couple of hours messing with the radiator. Also I accidently broke my rear licence-plate lights off. Still not sure how to take them off. Nothing a little superglue wont fix. I was wrong about one thing I had said in another forum. I realized it when I was putting the tires on (35x12.5x16) You do need to make a minor fender cut in the front. Nothing noticeable and nothing a hacksaw wont fix. After all was said and done. It came out beyond what I expented. I still have no pictures yet. But as soon as I do. They sill be here. Feel free to ask any questions.

GreatWhite,
Congrats on the lift. Next weekend it looks like mine is going to be installed. I did notice the 2 tubes in the lift kit. One metal and one a rubber tube. Which one did you have problems with? I have no clue how the metal tube for the gas tanks will go on. I was reading the instructions but maybe i have to see it up in the air first.

Thanks,
Ron

Ok, just got back in from the garage. My fuel intake hose is metal and the vent is metal also and seems to be welded into it. The hoses go into rubber hoses that meet with the gas tank. My vent pipe seems to only be 1/2 inch instead of the 3/4 inch they sent. One other thing the intake tube is strapped to the body on the side of the bed. Do I remove this? Sorry for so many questions, but i'd rather be prepared with all the parts if the parts store is closed.

The metal tube is the extension for the gas intake line. You have the rubber hose w/ a bend in it... the metal tube fits into that and is hose clamped on and it is the actual extension piece.

This was a joy to install on mine. Hint remove the hose from the body end and then wait till truck is lifted to do the extension install ...Mine was on sooooo tight...I had to sit under truck, behind the gas tank and contort myself to get to it ans wrestle it loose.

Thanks for the help. I thought the intake tube was metal. If it only a rubber hose then this may not be too bad of a job. Anything else to look out for? I have the 5.4 with the electronic 4x4 switch. Doesn't look like i need the trans. bracket and no cutting of the 4x4 lever.

Thanks,

Ron

Its been 6mths since I did it but I think the order of the intake hose goes like this ...gas cap, angled metal tube to angled rubber hose. Before beginning lift, if I remember right, you remove the metal intake by removing three screws in body by gas cap, then remove it from rubber hose by loosening the clamp, then remove rubber hose from tank (lotsa fun) then you'll cut the rubber hose slightly above the bend, insert the metal extension and then reinstall after lifted. The key thing is where you cut your rubber intake line....and don't stick the extension in too far, it's a pain to try to ease it out once you've manhandled the whole contraption under the truck and have it in position to reinstall.

The vent hose in kit fit mine perfectly...getting it off was another matter.

and yep you're lucky, 5.4 doesn't need the tranny adaptor...I put the ^%*^%$ thing on backwards first try.....and I was concerned w/ the bend as well. (still am)
