Four or Five more have been added (just for you!)...

As for the State being that dirty, well.....what with the freeway construction for the past 4 years (I'm sure you got caught in it for a bit), plus the Winter Olympic building, and the fact that we don't have any snow yet.....can make for a muddy time.

Wow that is some serious mud! Nice pics, now you need some pics of when it's clean... for a bit of contrast.

Talking

Looks good clean and dirty. Also looks good in the snow. Hmm just looks bitchin' all of the time!!!

Like the tires too. Did you offroad with the stock tires at all and what if so what is the diffrence between the stock tires and those bad boys?

I did off-road with the stock tires, but there really isn't any comparison. I can get out of a lot of places with the new tires in 2 wheel drive then I could with the stocks in 4 wheel drive, especially loose media (DEEP gravel, and sand etc. not too mention mud They also grip very very well when crawlin', it's probably due to the side wall grip/byte that they have. They are surprisingly quiet on the highway especially for a mud tire, the only time that you really hear them is when you make hard turns, then the side walls scrub a little and are a bit noisy. Overall, I love 'em! Just waiting to see how long they will hold up!

Also it looks like you have the stock 16" wheels. did you get new wheels or did you leave them alone. I want new tires for my truck but I don't want to spend the cash for the new wheels. I have the 17s on mine.

Screwtoy,
Nice looking truck!! The tire's & rim's really make a hell of a difference in the way it look's & it's stance look's tougher too.
I saw your rim's and called my tire guy right away to check out a set for my Screw. This is exactly what I want for mine. Only with the BFG TA/KO 285's . I really did not want to spend the money to go to 16's but I'm going to anyway. So my tire gut call's up Eagle alloy's to find out about the rim's & was told they won't have anymore until after the 1st of the year & are now out of stock at the warehouse(bummer). I'll have to wait for now. I guess that's ok since I'll save a Wisconsin winter on the new rim's & save up some extra $$$.

What did you do about a spare tire ?
Do your 285's rub at all ?
Did the tire's rob alot of power & gas milage ?

I hope when Ford change's the F-150's in 2003 that they keep the same bolt pattern so I can put them on a new truck if I like the 2003's.
See ya round the board's
Mike

Thanks Mike and dcovell!
dcovell, the rims are aftermarket Eagle Alloy 1439 in a 16x8
(4.5" back spacing), stock rims are 7" wide and according to SuperSwamper's web page the rims must be a min. of 8" for those tires.
FallScrew, sorry to hear about your wait, I actually waited for 2 months for the tires to be released (but I'm glad that I did). Why swap the 17" for 16"? There are more and more off-road tires being offered in the 33 and 35" ranges for 17 AND 18" rims now.
I actually didn't mess with the spare for now(worse case scenario, I'll drive to a garage a little lop-sided
There was not rubbing whatsoever, as a matter of fact the rear could easily take a 35" (315), however without messing with the torsion bars or a lift, the front's won't. HOWEVER, as you may be able to see in the pix, my front end sit's low, it's raked pretty good, figure I'd mess with that AFTER a 4" lift....and the stereo install.....and the.......

After Market, it what really keeps America rolling. If the truck came with everything we wanted the entire economy would go into a downward spiral............

Screwtoy,
The reason I would like to swap my 17's for 16's is because the tire selection & size is alot better in the 16's than 17's. I think the appearance is better with 16's than 17's. The tire's show more meat. The price's are cheaper for 16's. The aftermarket rim selection is better with 16" I think . I personally don't know why the mfg's are going to 17 & 18" rim's. Quite stupid in my opinion for all of the above reason's. Is there any benefit to having 17" or 18" rim's for a 4x4 truck that would get some offroad use ? Maybe somebody can set me straight if I'm wrong. I just don't get it. Did these 285's rob any power or gas milage ? the rim's I was origionally thinking about were the A/R Baja's or the Eagle/Alloy 589's . What's your opinion on those. (Screwtoy or dcovell)

dcovell,Your truck look's like mine only the white version. I like it !
How is that chip working out for you ? Do you have to un premium gas ? How were the power gain's ? How much $$ ?
I usually get rid of my truck's about every 3 year's. I do buy them & not lease because I put on 20-25,000 per year & my job give's me a 500.00 per month car allowance & free gas so it's worth it for me to buy them and bank the 6000.00 per year until I want a new one. It's a nice perk to have but in today's economy who know's how long it will last.(hopefully a while yet). Are there any rim's & tire's in store for your Screw in the future ? If so which one's ?
Sorry to ramble on guy's,once I start talkin about truck's there ain't no stoppin.
Mike

Wow lots of questions. I think the advantage to the larger rims is strength of the sidewalls. Less sidewals more strength. This is importiant when cornering. Also I think it's a look, it's more of a racer look though when you have the smaller (low profile) sidewalls.

The chip was around $230 and yes I do have to run premium gas. The power gains are definalty noticable and the shifting is MUCH nicer.

I don't know about wheels(rims) yet as that is more money, but I may get diffrent wheels before I get new tires. One thing I don't like about the wheels I have now is they take forever to clean...

But gotta get that money first, need to pay off some debt before I make new debt.

"As far as I can see there are two types of people in this world, those who owe money and those who are owed money."
-some other guy

So this street guys ask for some change and says I don't have anything, the guy being asked says, "Well your way ahead of me, I OWE at least $7,000" HHAHAHHA (feel free to laugh here) HHAHAAHAAHHHHAHAAhahahhaha..........

The 17" selection and price will begin to get better very soon. The 16" selection is good because the Mfg moved from 15 to 16, the 15 is good because they moved from 14 to 15.

Tire selection is based on demand, now with more vehicles shipping with 17" stock rims (new RAMS), The 17" selection will improve and so will the prices due to volume.
