was just checking the oil on my truck and again realized how much i hate that two piece design! my oil rag catches on it, and sometimes it is tough to seat the dipstick all the way back in its tube. i really wish ford would go to a one piece design. btw, this is the first vehicle i've ever owned that contained a two piece dipstick...

 

YES!!!!!

I also hate the twist at the end of the dipstick.

I've always wiped the dipstick from end to end and the combination of the rivets and the twist make that a real pain.

 

I agree, how much would it have cost Ford to buy one long piece of metal for it.

 

dont you know the story about the two piece dip stick? for originally tried using the dipstick out of a ranger and found out it was too short, so they just rivited on that extra length to fit the large trucks.
