Exclamation New SCREW owner with some questions

Hi everyone......I just got my Screw today at 12:30. I love it. I traded in my 99 Z28 Camaro (I just couldnt handle being in a tiny car anymore). Let me just say that this is one of the best trucks I have ever driven or ridden in, and it turns alot of heads cruising down the street. (women in southeast texas love trucks) My Dad owns a 99 Silverado and he was "anti-ford" before he rode in it and drove it, now he wants to get a F-250 Superduty, how ironic. I have a couple of questions for those of you that have owned one for a while now.....1) when should I change the oil for the first time 2) what kind of oil are you using 3)what is the best spray in liner to buy????Sorry so long, thanks in advance for any help or advice you would like to pass along.

FloppyDonkey2180...what a name...

1) I was gonna change my oil for the first time at 1000 miles. Drained my oil, then tried to take my filter off. THAT THING IS TIGHT!!! Filled with oil (5W-20) and called dealer. They said that they would do 1st oil change for free (they offered when I bought it anyway).

2) Motorcraft 5W-20 until MOBIL 1 comes out with full synthetic 5W-20 (not soon according to MOBIL corp), or until I decied about AMSOIL.

3) LINE-X. That is what I am going with when I can swing it. I have looked at three different kinds. LINE-X to me was the cleanest and thickest looking. The price I got quoted was $355 minus $40 discount for public safety personnel.

CONGRATULATIONS on the new truck...I hope you like yours as much as I do mine.

Congrats. Great truck! You'll love it more every day.

I'd suggest reading your owner's manual closely, lots of good info. I don't think it matters too much but change it the first time before 5k anyway.

Any quality 5w-20 should do you fine, I'm using Motorcraft for now.

I put in a Line-X liner and it is just the ticket.

Enjoy!

Congrats on the new truck.

I would change the oil between 1000 and 2000 miles. This is the most critical oil change you can do. I am going to use Amsoil XL-7500 5w-20 synthetic. I just had a "bedrock" sprayed in last week. Like it a lot better that line-x. It has a softer feeling than the line-x when crawling around on it. I have had it on three trucks and not a problem, I paid 375.00 cash.

Good luck with the new truck

I'm currently using Castrol 5w-20, but looking forward to using Mobil 1. I too have had 3 trucks sprayed with the Line-X bedliner. they take the beating and life time warranted. The only thing is they fade after time. Congrats on the new truck. FYI, The wrong radiators are being installed at the factory equipt with Class III Tow. You might want to check yours out. p/n on drivers side of rad end-cap.
