Post Camper shell/cap picture

While looking for camper shells I found this new shell/cap for the Supercrews. This one is from Leer.com

Nice pic. I think the cap looks nice but personally I would never get one for the Supercrew. Saw one locally and it just looked like an expedition!! Hardly anyone gave it a second look because "just another SUV coming by".

Cool

Hope your not buying a SC just for others to admire. Alot of us like to have a cover over our stuff. To each his own.

Damn! THat looks nice. I really do like that my SCrew is a truck. But I like the idea of safely putting the dogs back there for a long trip to grandma's house or camping.

Any thoughts on how hard the shell is to install/remove. I don't want to end up leaving it on all the time because I'm a lazy slob

Thanks for the pic!
Joe

1st SuperCrew,

Being a fiberglass top, you and a buddy can easily lift it off. The amount of time will vary depending on mounting system (i.e. clamps, j hooks, or bolted to bed)

Had one on my last truck. Could unclamp and stow under the carport in less than 15 min.

Glad to see a shell is finally available, and this is the basic design I want, however, want a little more glass to increase visibility. Went to Leer site, unfortunately this is the only angle photo they have posted.

Of course I didn't buy a Super for what other's thought, BUT a number of people on this database always mention the head turning quotient. Did not mean to offend, just meant I would/do take my 2 rotts in the expedition and with a shell, it sure looks and acts alot like an Expy. Like I said they look nice enough.....good luck... on my 97 I had a leer, no problems..though it did leak some in the front and rear (unit was bolted on!)

The wait continues.....went and ordered a new Leer camper shell this morning. Only problem is that the model I like/ordered won't be released for another 4 to 6 weeks. I ordered the model 100XL, this is a picture of it on a F250. I thought it looked better then the one at the top of this page. Windows are frameless and the shell covers the bed rails.

Cool

Does anyone have any good prices? Also, for sliding windows, does anyone know if the Snug-Tops are out for the SuperCrew yet?

On the shell I ordered the main windows don't slide/move, the rear "flipper" windows pop out for vent. The Leer on the top of the page has windows that slide.
As far as Snugtop, I was told they were going to be ready with one in the middle of June. I felt I was safe going with one of the big shell makers such as Leer, Snugtop, etc. My last shell was a Stockland and leaked big time.

Prices for Leer:$950. for the red one at the top of the page, $1,300. for the one I just ordered.

I finally got my cap in today. It is a Raider , Vagabond. The cap dealer installed gas shocks that were 2 1/2" shorter than stock to accomodate the bed extender flipping over, but the extender still hit when flipped. He then removed the lower bracket from the gas shock and moved it away from the cap door slightly and it works fine. The only difference between the Leer and Raider that I can see is the Raider completely covers the plastic bed rail where the picture at the top of this page seems to have a little of the rail cover showing. Maybe a shadow? I'm glad they took the time to change the shocks. The dealer said they are working on a spring system without gas shocks for the SuperCrew cap doors.
