Talking Finally NO MORE AUTO LOCKS!!!!!

I Finally brought my truck to the ford dealership to have the automatic locks disabled. I got so sick of getting out of the truck and trying to open the back door, but itz locked. I had the dealership disable that feature and it only costed me $16. Everything works the same except the locks won't lock when i start driving.
Well i just thought i'd share this with you guys... i'm not sure if anyone else hated that, but i got it fixed, and i'm glad i did!!!!

You could have done ti for free. The owners manual tells how to do it.
I turned mine off as well, but found out that the lock button sticks up right under my arm, not comfy.

Owners manual and 3 minutes. The dealer should have done this for you as a courtesy.

Next time read the owners manual... or ask a question about here before paying someone else to something as simple as a few turns of the key and a push on the lock button.

I agree!! Now that it is warm weather, I like to have the windows down and my arm on the top of the door. The dang lock button is right in the way. I have gotten pinched under the forearm numerous times pushing the button down with the underside of my forearm (locked position) to get it outta my way.
I have learned to be careful when doing this. My wife did it a few days ago on the passenger side. She let out a little high-pitched "ouch!" I had to laugh a little.

The guys & gals in this forum are a warehouse of useful info

they (we) can both help you to save money and spend money (see my list of mods)

The screw has some little quirks (technology) built in and as time goes on you will find this place a great wealth of info

like: the digitial speedo and lots of other tricks the trip reset button can do
the seat belt chime trick....

Digital Speedometer??

How can you view a digital speedometer? The way I am raking up the miles on my S-Crew, I would much rather watch the MPH than the Tach!!

Unhappy Oh man

Yeah I cannot believe they actually charge for that. I have a new 2003 FX4 XLT and that was driving me insane. So I read the manual and disabled it. My wife has a Focus ZTS and her car was doing the same thing. So I applied the same technique and it worked on her car. What I don't understand is her owners manual had nothing about disabling/enabling auto lock. I wonder if this technique works on all new ford vehicles with auto-lock?

Hey! Is there anybody that can take a minute to answer this question? I've looked in the manual and it has nothing on it (unless ofcourse I'm blind, too!)

Thank for your time.

You need to set it every time you get in the truck though. It is not like it is a standard owner feature, this is the test mode for checking the HEC and cluster.

Thanks for taking the time to reply

I'm sure I won't take the time to set it everytime, but, just the same I think it's COOL!

Thanks again!

I've tried the manual procedure on this repeatedly, but to no avail. I'm not sure if it is somehow interfered with by the autostart system installed on the truck????

If your wives and girlfriends drive your truck, especially when alone, I would not disable the autolock feature. An unlocked door just makes it that much easier to carjack the truck.

Remind them too, that when driving in a city, make sure the doors are locked, the windows are closed, and they pay attention to their surroundings instead of just looking straight ahead all the time.
