Driver's window switch problems

Wanted to see if anyone else had this problem as I have run into it twice with my 05. The driver's window will be able to roll down just fine when you hit the switch but does not roll up. At first it only happens every once in a while but gets progressively worse. I replaced the switch assembly the first time this problem popped up and all was fine for about 3 months. Now it is happening again!

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm am starting to worry it might be something worse then a $40 switch assembly.

Yeah I ordered my replacement through one of the local dealers. The first time it happened you could kind of get the switch to work by pressing on the button at on odd angle and putting a a lot of pressure on it but it just gets worse and worse.

I finally was out in the hills 4byin' and accidentally lowered the sucker in a massive rain storm. I had to get soaking wet pulling the thing apart to roll up the window. I found if you pull the switch assembly out of the arm rest and take the bottom cover of it off you can basically cross the wires once you know which ones control each window. But having to do that every time you want to roll up your window is an obvious pain.

Same problem

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this issue. Exact same problem with my 06, and yes, it is getting worse. Driver's side only. Goes down fine, but won't roll back up all the time unless you fiddle with the switch.

I was glad to see some other posts on this site about removing that door panel. I started to take it off today and then figured PERHAPS I should see if I can find some info on doing so (before I broke something). Thanks to whoever posted the step by step pictures. Those are very helpful.

I'm a little confused as to what to do next, though. Should I change out the assembly? Dawg, you said you replaced it and it happened again, huh? I'm not big on throwing $40 down the toilet. I do enough of that already. Duck season will be here before we know it and I'd like to at least have an idea that my window will make it all the way up when it's zero degrees outside. Anyone else out there have any suggestions?

Duh

Well, obviously I needed to do a little more reading before I posted. There are quite a few posts from members with the same problem on other sections of the site. Seems like some fixes worked for some and not for others. I'll start with the simple steps first and let you know what works for me.

i had the same problem on my 05. the window switch is worn out.

here is how you know that this is your issue: when you roll the window down, you can feel a click. when you try to roll it up, that click wont be there, but on the other windows, when rolling them down and up, you can feel that click. the lack of that click feeling in the switch is how you know all you have to do it replace the switch which is a super easy fix.

i went over to the ford dealership, they had the new driver's side switch module in stock. replaced it in the parking lot and have not had a problem since.

i did it about 4 months ago

I'll have to give that a shot when I get off work. Mine also started having this problem a couple months ago. Almost thought it wasn't going to come back up after going through the front gate ID check tonight. So does the dealership consider that part a normal wear item or what? Why should I pay if it's still under warranty.

Happened on my passenger window a year ago, just happened on my drivers window about a month ago. My brother's driver side does the same thing. Seems to be pretty common

i hope that i can help you! i have the same problem 2months ago, if you take out the switch of the door, its look hard but its kind easy, you have to tear down the switch completely, go to the defective switch under there are small resort, taken after the small plastic rods, stem, which must make contact to activate the lifting of the glass must be a little bite melted can change the stem with that of other one plastic rods, and thats it! the work is done

Maybe this is the problem that is beginning with my 06. Just started today where I would roll the window down and about 3/4 of the way down it would make a clicking sound. Rolls up fine, but maybe this is a sign that the window switch is going bad. Luckily I'm still under warranty.

Looks like I am going to be replacing the passenger and drivers switches in the next week or so. It has been acting up but last night it was raining and it was stuck down for 3 minutes or so. Rather annoying.
