Ive never done any work with fiberglass. Is there a certain someone i need to pm to find out more about techniques? or where do i get the materials i need? Would it be any more difficult with the profile of the bottom of my box? I really know nothing about fiberglass except when its done it looks all shiny lol. Thanks for any tips or suggestions to get me to sway to fiberglass.

Hey Patman,

I checked in on this thread the other day. I heard fiberglass is ultimately the beest way of doing this mod but it's tricky.

If you get some good info, hook a brother up.

On the boxes i've built I took some under coating and coated the inside when I was done. It seals up any thing that you mite of missed with the liquid nails and helps with vibration. And if you put it on the outside also it will make it water tight so if any thing does get spilled your mdf won't swell. On your box volume I don't think that you need to figure in what the sub takes up. Just build it to the air space the subs call for.
Are your subs going to fire up or down? Looks good keep up the good work.

i've played with fiberglass a little and it's damn messy. but for the bottom you can lay down some aluminum foil over your carpet then lay the fiberglass on the foil and it will mold to the shap of your floor. make you a stick frame and pull some flease tight around it then brush on the resin. when it gets hard over lay it with fiberglass to stiffin it up.

yea down firing. and what are you refering to when you say undercoating? is that just a brand name? im not familiar with it....
and fiberglass would be nice but i really havent ever done any work with it and im afraid to put time and money into it and come out with a pile of shiat...
I probably will get my Hu and box built by mid feburary (minus cutting out the actuall sub hole, and apolstering)

And of course i will be putting up pics along the way.

undercoating is the black paint on your frame. It's liquid ruber in a spray can you can get it at any auto store or wal-fart. And as far as fiberglass you can get a fare bit of money tied up in it, and a lot of time sanding refilling, sand refilling trying to get it smooth.

And then one of the back with nothin in it.

And one with me making a diminsional model 12" by 6.5" to see if i would actually have enough room in the back half of the box for the sub, and i do! it will be at a slight angle..

Next update should be wednesday evening or night...
