Question Thoughts about nitrous?

let's say that you have a proper fuel system, and a built engine, that's a lot of if but, then is it worth going nitrous with our trucks?

right now I'm stuck at 550rwtq at 12 or 14PSI (I have a small 1.85L blower), engine will be built for 900HP via MHP

I was thinking of playing in the 700hp just to be safe and not getting too close to 900HP, I don't want to blow up an engine again.

-what are the pro and cons?
-how much is a kit?
-how difficult is it to install, can I do it myself?

You can certainly do it with a built motor. As for power be sure to factor in drivetrain losses as well as power to drive the Eaton. 550rwhp will be a hell of a lot of fun. 550rwhp is gonna put the engine at around 700-730hp. 80hp to operate the transmission, driveshaft, and rear end is about average. This can increase or decrease based upon wheel/tire weight. And the Eaton will need 75-100hp to turn it at that boost level. Add a 125 or 150 shot of nitrous and the engine will be experiencing 800 plus hp.

In your case the nitrous could be of even more help. It will help bring down boost temps.

My buddies with lightings (same blower) do a wet shot over the intercooler in the intake. This cools down IATs and adds power. I think they were seeing 120rwhp gains with only 50 shots because of the cooling benefits

I'm glad to see that you guys are excited about this..

now please tell me which kit to buy, and how many shots to use for this setup?

I don't know anything about nitrous so I expect you guy to teach me as usual

Why nitrous? showing off on dyno sheets, and see how it would do against gt500, vette or imports

I will not drag race the truck, my reasons:
6200lbs!
I do not want to drop the truck (it is a 4x4, I go on logging roads sometimes and have off-road tires)
I don't want traction bars (rough ride)
Small blower (Roush)
etc.

I never have used nitrous myself but from the guys that I know that use it all use Zex kits. Why I honestly don't know. I tuned a dodge 5.7 (just air fuel ratio which was about all that could be done on top of the predator tune) with a zex 125hp kit. We didn't install the kit but it was very clean looking and appeared to be a good quality. Kit worked great and had a fail safe that worked good too.
