procharger belt slip

Just got truck back from Troyer Performance, and belt slip was once again the major issue. It pulls great to about 5200 rpms then the belt starts to slip so boost won't keep rising at that point. Truck is a 97 4x4 4.6l 5 speed with a D1sc 6 rib pulley setup. Does anyone know of a company who sells pulleys that grip better? It's annoying as Hell knowing that if not for belt slip, the final dyno numbers would be much better. Any help will be appreciated. THANKS!!!

Tried different belts but none helped. I don't think they make 8 rib setup for my truck also. Wasn't there a company that used to coat the ribs with something to help with grip? Cog setup would probably cost a fortune if it would even work.

Just found the Riechard Racing ultra grip pulleys are available for the procharger. Anyone know anything about them, or using them?

idler pulley is 32 bucks from autozone, its off of a focus. then just get some fender washers and a nut and bolt. drill mount use the washers for shims to shim the pulley out then just get a longer belt. i was able to get 10psi out of stock pulley and no more belt slip!

What were your final numbers? Is your truck black? I saw a late 90's truck with a Procharger on it when I was up there. If it was yours thats a nice looking rig

Yep that was mine. It's a 97. Mike had it to 440 before the belt started slipping.

440 was ok I guess, but I was really hoping to see 500, and it looked like we were going to get there before the belt started slipping.

Great numbers. Nearly 100 HP over the P1 as we have seen before.

Like I said on another thread, the D1 is much more powerful. Once you resolve the belt slip, you should see a 1-3 PSI increase. There is no cog setup for our trucks and it gets expensive to upgrade the drive system. Cogs are difficult and hard to set up because they do not use spring loaded tensioners. They have to be setup perfectly and are generally NOT for street use. Now ATI is mounting the F series blowers up front and run direct drive and NO belt or gear drive.

No 10 rib pulleys are available from Procharger and I have them searching for an 8 rib setup because I was told there is a pulley out there we can swap and do an 8 rib. Keep in touch, because they will call me with options. As I remember, it was an aftermarket Mustang GT balancer and a pretty expensive billet crank pulley. Based on the conversation, the crank pulley is what will hold us back. I intend to run an F 1A and will need to contact MadEnterprise for a custom pulley based on how things look now.

Faster F150 has the best solution I have seen for the 6 rib.

Until then, check tightness. A good rule of thumb is to twist the belt on its axis and you should only be able to twist it 90 degrees. I was at the dragstrip one time and my belt was too tight and squealed like a pig so ensure it is not too tight because it will glaze the belt and then it will slip.

Crash. Let me know if you find a solution to the belt slip. What about the Riechard Ultra Grip Pulley? It sure looks like it would help.
