Procharger Set Up

Alright everybody, I'm new to all this supercharger set up stuff. I have a 2000 F150 LA West Edition with a 5.4. Since I have had it has blown a spark plug out of the passenger side #4. When it did a piece of the plug went down itside of the cylinder wall and bruised the wall, So I pulled it and took it to get redone. During the process I decided to go ahead and put some money into it and had it honed out and then built up. We kept the standard bore but upgraded it with a better forged bottom end. I had the heads ported and polished and had a 4 angle valve job done. I called Comp Cams and told them what I wanted to get out of the truck and they set me up with a set of cams that make the truck sound very nasty. I put shorty headers with a true dual exhaust with 2 Magnaflow Cats, with a X pipe and Aero Turbine mufflers. I still have the 19lb injectors and it gets plenty of fuel. Also custom tuned by Troyer. The truck runs very good and I am pleased with it but I want more. It will run high 14's with no problem. I still have the stock transmission but I plan on putting a Factory Tech Valve Body in very soon.

Now on to the Procharger. I Can't decide if I should go with the P-1SC 2 core, or the D-1SC 3 core. My thing is I want boost to be there when I punch it. But I also don't want to get the P-1SC and it not be enough power. How much boost do you think I can run safely? How much boost can I get out of the P-1SC compared to the D-1SC. What can I do to get instant boost out of it? Should I get injectors and a mass air or is the fuel pump they supply going to be enough? I need all the info I can get before I do this so I can do it right the first time and not have to do double the work.
Thanks.

D-1SC three core, better too large than too small.

D1SC with the 3 core for sure, 39# terminator cobra injectors, 12# of boost, A SCT BA2400 MAf, a solid tune, a better bypass valve and enjoy it...

then you don't want a centrifugal blower like the P1/D1. You want a roots or twin screw blower. The centrifugal will gradually build boost in the upper rpm, while the roots/twin screw boost will be more instantaneous.

So it won't hurt anything if I go bigger? It won't make to much boost right out of the box? Slothman86, Wouldn't I have to change to much to go with the roots setup? Isn't that the same as the lighning setup? Tarajerame, Didn't you have the same setup on your truck?

my green truck made max torque at 2400rpms when it was centrufigal equipped, it made max boost at 5400rpms as that's where my rev limiter was set at

yes I am switching to a different setup, but I enjoyed my procharger and I miss it

Since I am hearing "instantaneous boost" and Roots type in the same sentence, I will throw this out there.

We can upgrade from the P-1SC up to an F-1A that will even the score and it will be a comparable price. With a 5:1 step up ratio, it will be a killer off the line. In fact, my Expedition will get one. Don't forget to look at the F- Series IF you want to compare the 2.3 to a comparable centrifugal. My money goes on the Procharger if both units are tuned correctly and both spraying a 100 shot...

We also suggest the D-1SC before the P-1 these days because I have seen magazine results the swap from P-1 to a D-1SC and a 5.0 gained quite a bit more power than the D-1SC (100 HP). In fact, we have sold very FEW P-1SCs once we installed a D-1SC. Plus the 3 core intercooler as well. Below you will see the largest ProCharger we can bolt on these Triton engines. So you can imagine what the race blowers will do in comparision to the 2.3.

I think I would be happy to have 600+ RWHP on tap, but it takes time and FUNding. And a big blower.

Thanks Crash. I will have to compare and see how my money goes. I'm trying to have some money left over after all this set up but most likely won't. Tarajerame, Do you still have your Procharger set up? And where do you'll think is the cheapest place I can get it? Or maybe a good used setup?
