They are the same heads. Lots of shops will CNC port your heads on an exchange basis or you can buy a new set already ported from ford racing, either way will cost you about 3 large. If your going to spend that kind of money, get the 08 style heads from ford racing, they have the new plug style that doesn't break off in the head.

I know Huitt got a little exhaust work done by greg good(I think) down here in Houston. I'm not sure if he feels confident it did much.

I'm sure fully worked over heads would see some benifit with some cams.

If you going to change heads... Is it too much work to put 4v heads on?

That would be the best thing to do. Pretty sure you would need new timing chain cover, intake, and other misc components.

but there wouldn't be a problem with the supercharger? would I have to modify anything on that end if I put 4v heads?

Its a lot of work, and a lot of coin to put 4v heads on. You need the heads, a 4v 5.4 timing cover, 4v 5.4 timing chains (there are 4 of them), intake manifold, exhaust manifold or headers, and 4v specific pistons. The 4v and 2v heads have valve reliefs cut into the pistons for valve clearence whereas the 3v does not. You can have your 3v pistons flycut for the 4v heads, but it requires removing them and taking them to a machine shop. If your going to go that far, just go .020 over and replace your internals with forged stuff that is 4v specific.

In the end it might be easier and cheaper to find a used 4v 5.4 out of a navi and swap it in your truck than trying to convert your engine into a 4v.

As for the S/C, you will need an intake manifold that fits a 4v 5.4. As far as I know, there are only 3 vehicles ford put a 4v 5.4 in, the older navigators (about 2000-2004), the ford GT supercar, and the shelby GT 500. The navi engine is the only one that is not supercharged from the factory and there is not enough of them out there to warrant an aftermarket manifold. So you will have to use a factory ford piece or go completely custom (big bucks). In the end it will cost you some serious coin to convert your engine to a 4v and then S/C it.
