2000 F250 5.4 supercharger???

I have a 2000 F250 4x4, automatic, with a 5.4 and i am completly disgusted with the amount of pulling power or lack there of! However the truck is paid for and i am not going to jump back into payments as tempting as that sounds. The truck has 100,000 miles and i keep up with the maintenance very well, the truck has absoulutely no problems. So my question is what will give me the most bang for the buck as far as overall power for towing. I use the truck as my daily driver and use it to pull our 23' fifth wheel (very light) camper. Could i use a stock charger off of a lightning? would it bolt right up if so how hard would this be and what all would i need? any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Don't know why you couldn't go with L swap. Obviously IC heat exchanger brackets, fan shroud and IC coolant tank might be mounted different, but I do not see that it would be that hard. If you shop around you can pick up L parts. The positive displacement blower is the way to go for towing. With a 5000lb pull on hiily roads I can set the cruise at 75 in overdrive and never think about it. I'm only running 3.73 gears with 32in tires so at 75 I'm pulling about 2200rpm. The positive displacement blower adds a lot of low end torque and this is what these truck are lacking. The other day I was puling my car trailer with 6000lbs of Wood Pellets (>8000lbs total weight) and I just started to have to use the gas pedal. And yes that exceed's the towing capacity of my F150, but I was keep it below 75 and I only went 5 miles. If you need more info PM you email,

Can I do the same thing on my 00' F150? Just use a lightning blower and injectors etc.? I could then have it tuned right? Or could I send in the specifics to Bill at PHP and have him do it all with a custom tune for my Gryphon??

Yes just read any of the posts within this section of the forum. Any talk of an Lightning blower swap is tied to the 98-2003 F150's (plus 2004 Lariats) and Expediations (some maybe all 2004's) which are 2 valve 5.4 motors.

I also know a couple people who have complete setups they'd be willing to part with...

burkleo24 just making sure since i didn't see it mentioned, but you don't need the whole motor just everything above the heads, i think ford will sell the Harley take-off as a replacement part(don't know the guys at my parts counter told me they can get anything). but also getting a computer would make it easier for you but the person doing the tuning can make it work either way.

Yeah, don't go with Lightning ECM. If you did you would have to get an L frame harness and other stuff as well. A good tuner can make the NA ECM work just fine. The first tune I received was via email and the truck started up the first time, idled fine and ran good. Then I found out it was closed loop and I made a change.
