Killer Chiller

I was doing my usual digging on supercharging and I found this site. Their system runs refrigerant through a water to air intercooler. They are dropping charge temps like crazy. All top quality stainless and many applications. The F-150 has all kinds of room for this setup!

They are local, so I met up with them and checked out the product. TOP quality construction. Ask for Joe and tell him Crash sent ya!

They have been having group buys on a lot of the Lightning boards for about a year (on and off) and you can get one for about 500 bucks.
From what I have read and seen videos of,,they are about the best cooling mod out there other then nitrous...lol

The basic parts run under $100. Its a $45 industrial heat exchanger, a few hoses and clamps, and a nice plastic box covering up that its a off the shelf part.

Compare the unit on the bottom photo:

It is heavy duty and you can expect exceptional reliability. They spare no expense to provide excellent quality parts.

This is a refrigerated system producing approximately 50 degree charge temps.

I know it's getting cooler, but I'd like to know what impact it has on your A/C output.

A/C compressor robs a little power, methanol injection doesn't. You do have to replenish the meth, but it adds octane. Basic kits for a little over $ 200.

My latest response from Killer Chiller...

Derek,

I typically see a 10 degree difference between IC fluid temps, and charge temps. For example, if my reservoir temp is 55 degrees than my charge temp will be 65 degrees, of course that's just cruising temps, at wide open throttle thru all 4 gears that delta will increase by about 30-35 degrees, so about 85-90 degrees. This is due to the fact that the A/C disengages at WOT.

I also noticed someone posting up a small cheap Chinese exchanger and comparing it to ours. Our exchangers are made right here in the good ol US of A , and they're not some small cheap 10 plate low grade 304 SS exchanger (way to restrictive and not reliable). Ours are built to our specifications using 316-SS, with double the pressure rating. We then braze in the fittings, install the orifice assy and insulate the core, then we add the necessary A/C fittings, high grade A/C hoses, clips and cages, we then add the correct liquid side hose, menders, clamps, bracket, gauge, and hardware, along with an install packet.

We really don't make much on a kit (most of our kits sale for around $500.00 depending on the application). So it always pisses me off when someone says they can put one of these together for a few bucks!? If so then I will pay them to build the kits for me!! "I'm actually trying to make a profit by volume"

The pricing on our website is retail...we never sale them at that price.

Side note- Ford engineers have trained me to understand that their optimal charge temp on most engines is 100 degrees. To see 65 degree charge temps under boost is excellent, and by the end of a pass WOT and under full boost, it is still under 90 degrees.

Meth is good too, but tuning for it is suggested, and you should never allow the tank to run empty for this reason.

That is true. Their test car is a 98 Cobra with a ProCharger.

Also, to give you an idea, I have tested the discharge temp of that blower, and before the intercooler, 180 degrees is common.
