Knocklite: Interesting product

This looks like a reasonable safety item for boosted apps. Anybody seen or tried this, or something similar?

The Lightning PCM have the knock sensor turned off...... My knock sensor is mounted on the intake manifold because of manual transmission noise. The n/a engines use the knock sensor to remove timing or add it. Your light will be turning on causing you you to be worried while the sensor takes care of the problem. My truck has failsafe cooling so I don't need a temp gage. I have a speedo that I never look at. I have a wide band that I use for datalogging. I have a boost gage that is fun to look at. I should get a oil pressure gage because that is important. I use the tach to shift. A programmable shift light would be better. So IMHO it is a waste. But who am I to judge?

It could be used for a tuning AID, but be aware JMC is right. There are known problems with powertrain noise triggering a Knock sensor. It retards timing, so if powertrain noise causes a signal, you lose HP, when there is no detonation or pre-ignition going on.

If you have a solid dyno tune, (11.8-12.6:1), you should have no issues, and not need it.

I tune my own, so I would like to have some sort of warning device. I thought this might get past the engine noise problem as it connects to the stock sensor wires. It would only be telling what the stock sensor is doing anyway, which can be datalogged.
