GT500 motor in an F150?

Being one off and original is cool. Untill something breaks. Like a driveshaft. Or the pump in your built tranny. Or your Torque Converter. Or some one steals your truck because its so cool. Or you suck up water on the way home from NC. All things that have happened to me this year. I haven't had a dependable truck since I had the engine work and bumped up the boost. These trucks weren't made for this and once you get about 600 crank hp **** starts breaking all over the place.

NOTHING is reliable when you start pushing north of 600hp. It doesn't matter if you spend money on all the right parts and have a dialed-in tune...something is going to fail one way or another. I've been working on a 8-second street Mustang the last 18 months of which it has been actually running maybe 4 of them. Engine, transmission, driveshaft, rear end, fuel system all built to handle at least twice the 1000 or so hp this car is making. Broke the timing chain, bent valves and pushrods, and now it's stripped down to the shortblock again. A truck isn't more or less susceptible to such things either. Who would be posting in this forum if everyone just built cars to be quick? How boring.

I'm in the process of a build. However I'm doing it all myself instead of paying someone else to work on the motor. From what I have seen, 4v conversion and a GT500 conversion would be a PITA and not worth it.
Hell, I paid 500 for a block and heads. To do it the RIGHT way, it takes time. The machine shop I'm building it at (my buddy owns) has many many cars that make far more power then I ever could. However I will over build my motor just like theres. Out of the 6 302s that push 550+ HP only one has had a problem and that was a defect in a spring. I could go on forever about the motors he turns out.
Anyway, not that I dont trust the guys who build long blocks, but do research before you purchase, and know exactly what your getting. I've seen a ton of blocks built by "good" engine builders, and most of them cut corners and dont put in the time to do it right.

If you didnt build the motor, I would dump it on the front door of who did. Obvious they didnt know what they were doing... Timing chain.....
Not trying to be a ****, but buying top parts and slapping it together is no way to build a motor. I would hate to see someone blow a motor just to rebuild it exact same without fixing the mistakes.
