MAD says go into the fuse box and get a key on hot. I attached to the hot wire of a nelectronic valve above the brake booster on the firewall. Have run this way for 50,000 miles with no problem.

An OBTW there are some L's in the junk yard.

So I took the truck to get tuned and the dyno guy is having trouble figuring out how to tune it with a single 255lph pump instead of the lightning dual pumps. Something about fuel pump voltage ect. This guy has had my truck for almost a week now and I am starting to get a little pissed off. Anyone have any ideas? If its not done in another day or two I am just going to take the truck back. Issue is that Troyer wants 10 weeks to get me a mail tune and I cant wait that long. What would you do?

Thanks Dave

If he hasn't figured it out in a week I would be very nervous. There are tons of vehicles running a single 255 fuel pump.
Do you have a hand held tuner? Xcal maybe?

He is using a xcal 3 and I want to make sure its done right considering the money invested in putting a lightning motor in my supercrew so I would like to get it dynoed to make sure the air/fuel is correct ect...

If he cant tune it in a day( start to finished) he has no business calling himself a tuner,,get it the hell outta there!!!!!!
He sucks and I wouldn't trust anything he did.

I'ld go to a diffrenent tuner.

I got my tune through the mail and the truck started up right away and idled and ran fine. Not sure why he is messing with the single pump. Maybe he is confused and is trying to use L logic. They have 2 pumps and I believe the second one is a function of boost pressure.

What I caught him saying is that he wanted both computer codes so that he can use the lightning curves in the stock f150 computer. I have no idea what he is doing but then today he said its been giving him some issues with the PATS and that he figured out what to do with the single pump instead of dual pumps like the lightning. I am afraid of what this guy is doing at this point and also would like to take the truck elsewhere but im out of time so any help on what to tell this guy would be great to help my situation... Thanks Dave

I'm not an expert by any means, but yes basically he puts the L load tables in. Fuel pump should not be an issue since you have only one, its either on or off. L' had a boost signal for #2 pump. There are two other issue, L's had boost dump, NA ECM do not have., so delete. The other one is that L's have 2 IAT's, one near the MAF and the other in the intake, where as NA have only one near the MAF. So he has to pick which one and then adjust temperature signal accordingly. The last guy I used was Woodbine Motorsport. He should be able to do over email. Others can do as well.

I think what he is trying to do is use a stock L table for your truck and tune from there. It is possible, it has been done with my truck. Not really sure why it so hard for him. I would get the truck out the shop ASAP!!!

Are you running a L or N/A F-150 computer?

Wayne

Here is the update....(sorry Wayne didnt see your Q) 10 days and the tuner could not figure anything out so I took the truck back. I now have two options to get it tuned with the N/A computer. 1. Take it to Force Fed Motorsports and pay 850 to get it tuned on a dyno or get a mail order tune from Troyer for 550 or VMP for 450. I can only really afford 5-600 at this point but I want it done right so the extra cash isnt that bad I guess. Troyer wants 10 weeks yes thats right 10 WEEKS to get a tune out and VMP can get one to me in a week or two.

So if it was your truck what would you do?

10 weeks is a long time. And 850 is a little high. You could call Woodbine Motorsport, not sure what he will charge since I paid 1000 fo xcal III, tune, and SCT2600 maf.

I have never heard of changing pcms with an L swap or any other forced induction device. It is good that you got away from that guy.

Here's my guy. Don at LaSota Racing is wicked quick with the tunes, and wrote the early SCT programming, ask any tuner who he is....

Like they said,,it's good you got it back from that guy!
850 is way to much. 10 days is way to long...lol
If I had it ready to go all but the tune I would want my tune NOW.
Don't know much about VMP but him or the other guys mentioned in the last couple post are doing tunes for the L swap so I would try the cheapest and fastest one.

Phil
