And just to add to the mess..
You do not need a Lightning computer unless you want to run the L 4r100!
You have to run your stock computer in order to operate your 4R70W!

Your good with a single 255 pump. If you add a KB boost-a-pump you should be good up to 500rwhp.And that would put you pretty much at the limit of the stock block.

If you are going from 4.6L to the L Motor, you will also need the correct flywheel for the 5.4 to mate to the converter of the 4r70w, As the bolt patterns aren't the same on the two. Also, the flywheel on the L motor will not match up to the bolt pattern on the converter of the 4r70w. The 4r70w converter has 4 bolts and the 4r100w has 6 bolts. Also, your stock radiator hose will not fit with the stock intercooler tank on the shroud, you have to get a radiator hose for the lighting, as it will route around the stock intercooler tank(but i see radiator hose in the pic) that should be fine. And good luck with the ECM and tuning, I will keep checking in to see how that goes, as I have had nothing but problems with my computer, maybe I just need to replace the computer......Good Luck

Ok I give up I cant find the part # for a single 255lph pump for my truck? Called walbro and they said they dont support my application??? Anyone know what will work? I would prefer to get on from summit racing since I live about 10 min from them....

I have a 5.4 stock so i will use that flywheel for the swap and then run my 4r70 for a while until it breaks then swap to the lightning computer that the motor comes with and then go to the 4r100. Big deal with the wiring going to the 4r100?

Thanks Dave

Swapping to the 4r100 is going to be a very big deal! First of all,,the one you have is not for a 4X4.
I put one in my truck and it was a pain in the azz! And I took out the T case long ago.
I had to change the trany wire-harness,my exhaust,had to buy a new cross member,shorten the driveshaft,buy a L computer,new flywheel for 4r100,.
Got it in and it wouldn't change gears automatically. So you need the dash wire-harness.
We repined both ends ( computer & trany harness) And ran the 3 wires separately that were missing in the dash harness.
It was definitely a major pain and expense. But I had no choice.(went through 3 built 4r70s in 3 years!)

I will be taking it easy on my 4r70w for now and plan that for the future.. I called summit racing and they have the GSS342 pump but they are saying it does not come with the plug and wiring to connect it? I guess its just the pump. Idea's?

I would like to change the fluid in the eaton before I run it so what type of fluid/how much and where can I get it? And where should I hook up the intercooler pump wires?

ps. Sorry for all the questions but you guys are helping me out a ton! And I will post pics as I go along...

Can't remember if you need new wiring or reuse orginal wiring. This is the wiring in the tank itself, not outside the tank.

Go to a GM dealer and ask for supercharger oil (they use Eatons as well) this used to be the cheapest. Can't remember if 1 or 2 bottles required.

For IC you just need a switch hot wire. I tapped into the evaporator system which is right above brake booster on firewall, has worked for 40,000 miles.

OBTW still running my 4R70W with only a shift kit. Trans had 90,000 miles before supercharger how has 140,000, no problem, but then I don't take it to the drag strip, but I do tow car/horse trailer about once a month. Remember not to do WOT in overdrive!

Then you will need to buy an install kit separately!
The link I gave you has them for Mustangs and Lightnings.

I am just going to use it to tow and as a daily driver so no drag strip (although it would be fun). Ill just grab a lightning install kit for the pump(didnt see it at first thanks!) Cobra what shift kit are you using? I will install a shift kit to try and get it to last longer but I have already had the (long shift between 1st and 2nd) issue and I have changed the fluid to full synth with new 1-2 accumulator and piston and still shifts long and then clunks!

I believe it was a Factory Tech kit, included plate and accumulators/springs. My Xcal III also has capability to increase pressure and change shift points. I'm running orginal torque converter which is getting long in the tooth. At 140,000 I'm gathering info on rebuild. 4R70W (AODE) is a good trans and there are a lot of guys drag racing Mustangs with them. The 4R100 is an inherently stronger trans, but I would not say that you have to have one with an Eaton or else.

I bought my Walbro for a Mustang application and it came with what ever I needed. Did it too long ago to remember what it came with but it was a piece of cake to install, especially with the bed of the truck off.

Funny thing is,
the Mustang kit is 30 bucks and the L kit you get 2 of everything for 5 bucks less!

Haha yea when i ordered mine i called and asked about that, and the rep i talked with couldnt really give me a straight answer why. So i asked him if the price could be lowered and he said that the mustang kit had some specialty parts so that was why it was more. So im not sure whether to believe him or not.

P.S. Phil I sent you a PM.

I dont think you can use your stock fan with the L shroud. I think the L shroud hold the HE overflow and you need an L fan for it to work.
