Vortech Pulley Change

Is the Supercharger pulley a standard thread or is it reverse? I'm about to change pulleys and can't find anything that says what thread it is.

Is the best way to use a strap wrench on the pulley to get it off?

i think, this is a BIG i think, it should be reverse so when it runs it will never come loose

I have a Powerdyne and it uses standard right hand thread. When I need to change a pulley or remove the pulley the first thing I do is to loosen the bolt while the belt is tight. The Engine will give enough resistance to break the bolt loose. When I reinstall I always put some blue Loctite on the threads, snug the pulley bolt, tension the belt and then firmly tighten the bolt, Never had an issue either way.

I would assume that's how it was on there but wanted to check, still not positive....I'm surprised there's not more info on a pulley change... Guess I'll call Vortech just to be sure. Don't want to strip anything.

I think I saw a thread from you earlier about your aftercooler. I guess it worked out just right so it fit in there. You found it on ebay right? I can't find one for a 5.4 anywhere. Any recommendations? Have you run across one anywhere?

I used the 5.0 Mustang after cooler and had an extra elbow MiG welded to the inlet side for a direct connection, I only use a pair of short 3 inch connectors at each end. I used the 5.0 Mustang unit because it had the least sharp bends and it did fit nicely I might add. They are available at times on eBay, you have to have some patience to find one. I would price it new from Summit or some other supplier so that you know what the actual price is. I used the lightning heat exchanger, reservoir, pump and even hoses. It made for an easy installation. The Vortech part number is 8N003 010 this is for the cooler only, not the kit. feel free to email me if i can be of any help, this makes a very easy and efficient after cooler, less than 1/2 pound of boost loss and air temps are within 10 degrees of ambient.

Looks good... I wish I could get mine to fit up that easily, I would have done it already. THe vortech discharge is up higher so I can't quite see how to make it work. I'll keep looking though. You never see a F150 cooler. Like you said, I would use the lightning resevoir and pump.

the outlet of the supercharger can be re-clocked, what I am saying the housing on the supercharger can be loosened and turned to different positions. Before I bought the after-cooler, I called Vortech and they faxed me the actual engineering drawings true to size of their after-coolers, I then enlarged the drawing to actual size and made a cardboard mock-up so that I could be sure it would fit, then when I was sure I bought the cooler. They were supposed to make one for the F150, don't6 know if that ever came to be, WLF from this board used one from a 4.6 Mustang and did some plumbing, there should be some pictures in the archives.

The bolt is a regular thread. I just put a new pulley on my mustang blower and its normal right thread. I used my impact gun and it came right out. Otherwise i guess you can loosen it with the belt still attached. I also recommend some loctite.
