So are 4.6 owners out of luck?

Greetings all!

A friend of mine has an 04 4.6L F-150, and he's looking to supercharge it. He doesn't want to go over the top, he just wants a nice boost in power.

I've read through some threads here... and looked around all over the net... and the more I look, the more it appears that there are no supercharger options for owners of 4.6L F-150's. It looks like procharger might have some systems... but they stop at 03 for some reason (I'm not familiar enough to know, but I'm betting there was a major production change for 04+'s).

Is this correct?

as far as i can tell we got screwed the hell over by all these major companies. there are tons of people who would by one if it was there. think if just one company made one. they would have all sales to 4.6 owners. but since the 09's r comin out it looks like we dont have a chance.

Allen engineering has built one for the 4.6, but there are no plans to put it into production. Any link you saw on ebay was most likely for the 2004 heritage model, or it was a scam. STS Turbo is the only company out right now offering a forced induction option for the 4.6L

what is the difference between the older 4.6's and the newer ones? I am just asking because i know that the 5.4 went through a major change, going to a 24v, but didn't the 4.6 stay as a 16 valve?

I'm looking at STS's site... but it doesn't clearly say anything about the product they offer for the 04+ 4.6L F-150. It shows a dyno for some pretty impressive numbers... but nothing about which engine they did the test on.

Has anyone here gone with an STS?

Adapt a centi to fit the 04 + 4.6. You will need to get creative with the piping but I am sure it can be done. They make a kit for the 5.4 so the drive by wire is not a problem. Adapting the mounting bracket to the front cove is a matter of drilling any necessary holes.

I agree with JMC. I built a Paxton set up starting with just the s/c head.

The question is really whether or not the timing chain cover has changed, as a kit for an earlier 4.6 might be adaptable.

I just called and talked to Vernon at STS and he said the turbo they have listed for the F150 is for both engines. $5795.00 +S&H out the door. That is the complete kit except the A/F meter and boost gauge. Comes with all the hardware and the predator tune.
