Need help with factory Sony System Upgrade
I keep reading all the posts and all the details are so limited IMO.
Here's my story:
My first two f150s (2011 XLT Screw and 2012 FX2 Screw) both had the sync system...no Sony or nav. I just simply had regular LOC's installed on and then ran RCA'S to the amp and then to two 10's. Simple. The sound was ok but I wasn't impressed on either install.
My current F150 is a 2014 FX2 with the Sony System and Nav. I plan on upgrading the door speakers and adding a 12" sub. I intend to keep the factory sub in the truck for no particular reason. I bought the amps and all the wiring but I'm still shopping around for the box, speakers, and sub. Was told by a local install shop that I must put a summing device in in-order to get the correct sound I'm looking for. Is this absolutely necessary? Has anyone had any experience with this? The amps have high level inputs on them. Does that help anything?
I really am impressed with Rockford Fosgate equipment. I am sure there is a lot of better stuff out there, but their stuff has the quality that's in my price range.

Hi, first of all you'll get more replies if this was in the right sub forum.

And I did something similar on my 13 with the sony.

I have a 2013 Lariat screw.
Just installed:
- Bit One DSP
- JL Audio XD600.6
- Hertz HSK 165XL front
- Infinity 682.9 rear (were already installed)
- Hertz mono amp for subs
- 2 Kenwood Excelon 10" subs (under rear seat)
all I can say is WOW! the Bit One and 165xl's are unbelievable!

Yes, it makes a tremendous difference. It cleans up the Sony output signal, then allows you to run direct output to your speakers, i.e. you don't have to use passive crossovers -- you control the signal with the bit one. I am very pleased with it!
