2001 FORD F-150 XLT SUPERCREW BOX DESIGN FOR Pioneer TS‑SW3002S4 12"

Joined this forum just so I can post a design/build idea on making a Single 12" subwoofer box that will fit under the back drivers seat of a 2001 F-150 XLT Supercrew.

I originally was going to go with 2 infinity 10's but after doing the box design scratched it and went with a Pioneer Ts-sw3002s4. That's why in the plans you will see them labeled "box2" at the bottom. the PDF should be attached. (edit: could not add PDF file so did a screen shot of each page and posted below)

This box was specifically designed for a 12" Pioneer Ts-sw3002s4. If you use a different subwoofer, the hole cutout may be different because this is a shallow subwoofer and their cutouts are usually bigger. Also, this sub has a 3.375 inch mounting depth. If the hole cutout is the same size and in the same location, you can go up to 3.84 inches before it hits the angled bottom section. I would go no more than 3.75 just to be safe. However, if your hole cut out is smaller and you keep the sub toward the front side of the box, you will have more wiggle room.

Addition info. The Pioneer Ts-sw3002s4 12" subwoofer specs a box size minimum of .5 cubic foot and a max of 1.00 cubic foot with the optimal being .8 Cubic ft. This box is .787 cubic ft. (1,360.72 cubic inches)

Its going to go right here

All you need is a 48x48 piece of 1/2 mdf.
I laid it out very similar to the pattern I had included in the PDF. Only thing I changed was the 1/8 spacing between the pieces for the saw cut. My blade was not that wide. marked 25" call the way down the board and laid out the top piece first. I recommend cutting the Speaker hole first, then cutting the board along the 25" line all the way across. Then cutting the top panel out. then mark the next board. But whatever works for you

more pics
filled over the screw heads with Wood filler, then rounded off the edges with a router, and sanded it down some. sealed entire inside with caulking. it is best to build it in the order I did that way you can caulk around the top and sides, then when you put the bottom pieces on you can go through the speaker hole to caulk the rest. Called up a local company and they said they would do the finish sanding on it and spray a truck liner on it for $25 (bullet liner). Id say it fits the area pretty good

Looks nice.

How much clearance do you have between the sub and the bottom of the seat with someone in the seat?

thank you.
There is a bar that runs under the seat close to the rear which is the lowest point. There will be roughly 3/4 to 1 inch between it and the surround, The front will be well over double that. When I get the sub installed in the box, I will take pictures of it in place and maybe a video of it running

For the money invested I am extremely pleased with the results. This one subs hits plenty hard enough when turned up. I've got it adjusted to compliment my other speakers and not drown them out. Sounds really clean.
Amp and wiring kit-$120
Subwoofer-$90
Box-$55
Head unit, wiring harness, dashboard adapter-$70
Infinity reference 6x8 speakers-$140 total for 2 pair
Installation-Free

Ive had this running for a week now. Still very pleased with it. However... Sending my Pioneer amp back to amazon for a refund. It works really well, however I found a used Alpine PDX-5 amp that id rather have. I have Infinity reference speakers running off only what my head unit can do (rated 22 watt/channel). the 5x7's are rated at 60 watts rms/channel. They sound a lot better than what my stock speakers/head unit did. But this amp is rated at 75 watts RMS x 4 + 300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms. This amp is no bigger than the pioneer, yet should run the subwoofer the same, and be able to push all the 5x7's with ease.
