Could be the PERFECT Custom Subwoofer Enclosure for the '10 SCREW Yet?!?!

Ok, so maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself seeing as though I still don't have the sub, amps, wires, harnesses, adapters, grommets, sound barrier, etc, etc, etc .... I had to start somewhere so why not see what I can fit first and go from there!?!?

I went a little overboard perhaps in getting on CAD and drawing up this detailed box rather than just getting out there and doing it and seeing what works but in the end I think it will give me good results, and if it is the best box ever , then for a small nominal fee I can sell the plans to all the others out there looking!!! (Ok, maybe I'm dreaming on the money, but I certainly could share them)

I wanted to keep the majority of my rear 60 under-seat for useable space so I am looking at making a box to fit under just the 40 side. As I have been finding, that will severely limit which subs you can use due to mounting depth and required air space, but I have based my design on one (1) single Alpine SWR-T10 and tried to match the specs the best I could. Here are some pics and plans for the 2010 F150 SCREW (that I have yet to fully build). If there are any suggestions or serious design flaws that anyone may see, please let me know!

By the way, as I wrote in the profile drawing this box (on paper) has 0.419979 cu. ft. of gross internal volume. IF .... that were to be off a little when I build it, better to be a little on the big side or smaller? Also , should I be concerned with the clearance height above and below the speaker (detailed in my picture) or will the experts think those are fine?

At least use the 12" sub, looks like theres plenty of space.

You could fit 3 BMs under the rear seat of those newer trucks, that's awesome.

In this thread, I build a box fits just under the 40 with 0.5 cu ft. Work is blocking photo's so hopefully they are still showing up.

I started out wanting to get a single 12", but I didn't think I could get a box with that kind of required volume and still fit it under the 40 seat. I think that the Alpine 12" is 0.68 cu. ft. for the 12 vs. the 0.42 cu.ft. for the Alpine 10"

Your pictures do work and it looks like you have kicked the face of the box out a few degrees beyond vertical. Any issues with people kicking it or anything like that? Also you have it marked that you are 1-1/8" off the floor. Has that caused any issues?

Had the box now for over a year and no issues with people kicking it. It actually gets more abuse when I lift the seat up and pile stuff on top of it. I thought I would remove it when I go hunting and stuff, but there is so much room back there and it makes a fine shelf.

Since I haven't heard any distortion, I pulled the box out a couple times to see if there was any wear and no issues. That offset really is determined by the sub though. Mine has 14mm of Xmax and the diaphram is basically at the mounting face. With the gasket, I have an easy 1/2" of clearance.

If going single, get a 12". My setup nearly keeps up with my buddies dual 10's. His takes up the whole backseat. If keeping your truck for a long time, save your pennies and get a quality setup. Not only will it likely have better reliability, but the sound is impressive at all volumes. I'm hearing notes on songs that I didn't know ever existed before.

There is not space in this current design for the 12. I will need to be reworking and tweeking the numbers to get the 12 in there with enough room that I am happy with seeing as how I pulled the trigger on the Alpine SWR-T12 this evening and will be pairing it with the Cadence ZRS-C65 amp that can not arrive soon enough!

I am currently in Dallas but work out of our Austin office. I lived down in the Hill Country for about 5 years before coming back up here to Dallas for a little while to work on my current project. Even though the box is not built yet, what I would have to charge your for my "engineering and layout" time just to break even would not turn out to be a good deal for you How about once I get it completed, I send you any and all the details you will need including all the mitre cuts detailed out?!?!

I can send you what I have for the 10" Alpine sub, or just post it on here but I will not be building that box as I ended up going with the 12" Alpine SWR-T12. Remember, it looks good on paper.... but not everything works out just like it does on paper. If you end up building it though, you will have to let me know how it turns out. Give me a little time to get it all together and I will post it.

That is my plan so far but with a little more air space required for the 12" sub, I may have to extend it out a little further under the 60 side (a few inches at best). I have ordered almost all the materials and am patiently waiting for them to arrive. I hope that I have a good chunk of it this weekend when I will begin the install?!?!?

PS, But on a serious note... One time I was changing subwoofer enclosures, in my old S10... So, in the interim, I switched my crossover from 3 way, to 2 way, using a couple little 7" Alpine woofers, in like .25 cubes each (which I had been using for midbass) as my subs.... And holy $#!+ ! I couldn't believe how clean, and tight they were ! Relatively loud too !

My point being, I know that one 10" or 12" sub, sealed, can be totally enough for an SQ type of system, and in reality, is usually more musical, than a couple.... or 6, ported 12"s... or 15"s
